I'm sure dealing with this POS, Derrick Mason, and Burress (who actually appears to have been well-behaved from what I can gather) had NOTHING to do with Sanchez demeanor or problems this year. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets Santonio Holmes was pouting on the field and in the huddle on Sunday and was benched by offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer late in the fourth quarter in Miami, but his attitude for the game was set last week in a meeting Mark Sanchez set up with the wide receivers. At the Jets cleaned out their lockers Monday after their disappointing end to the season, a source told the Daily News that Holmes gave Sanchez a hard time at the meeting on Wednesday and then when Sanchez got the group together on Thursday, Holmes did not bother to show up. “He went back and forth with Mark at the meeting,” the source said. “He was saying stuff like, “What am I even here for?” Then he blew off Mark by not even showing up the next day.” Holmes did not catch a pass in Miami, the first he time he’s been shut out in his career. He was targeted only once. A source told the News that Holmes wasn't paying attention to Sanchez in the huddle as early as the second quarter. At halftime, Holmes was "moping in front of his locker," according to a source. “He’s a cancer," one player said. "It’s like dealing with a 10 year old." Holmes got into shouting matches in the huddle on two consecutive series in the fourth quarter. Players were upset that Holmes appeared disinterested and not even listening to Sanchez in the huddle. After Sanchez met the media Monday, the Daily News attempted to ask Sanchez about last week’s meetings. He refused to even let the question be asked. “No,” he said. “I’m done.” Holmes got into shouting matches in the huddle on two consecutive series in the fourth quarter. Players were upset that Holmes appeared disinterested and not even listening to Sanchez in the huddle.
I really wish we could find a better way to describe people like this without using the word "cancer." "Ebola" doesn't really roll off the tongue, but we should keep looking.
With guys like Hunter, Mulligan etc. they just suck but aren't bad guys and are good teammates. Holmes is just a scumbag of a person.
Yea I see us trading Holmes for that 5th pick we gave up to get him. Go round 1 wr since there are so many good ones coming out this year.
When you got quality guys like Brandon Moore and LT stressing specific issues with a guy like Holmes, you know there is a problem. I think he is the sole reason for the fracture in the locker room. I truly believe that. Brandon Moore even called it. Holmes has not been productive, he has not gotten separation, and he has played with a lack luster attitude all year. We have all seen it. He is more then capable of being a vertical threat, he did it in Pittsburgh. He got paid and quit on the team. He doesn't give a fuck about winning a SB for the fans. He only cares about himself. This POS needs to go.
Guys, the point is this: there's a fine line between talented teams that play up to their talent and those who fall short. It requires maximum effort, 100%, on every play, or nearly every play. Now we find out that the top offensive talent quit weeks ago. Look, LT doesn't have what he had 5 years ago but the man gives 100% and is a class act in the locker room. If every Jet gave what LT gave -- even if they had 10% LESS talent than they have now -- this team would have finished with a playoff spot, if not won the division.
Here's what is most scary about this whole s***: the SOB acted this way RIGHT AFTER HE GOT HIS $50 MM contract !!!! With a ton of money upfront and guaranteed !!! Can you imagine this guy in the later years earning below-market $3 MM salaries and looking for another playday while Sanchez throws to Keller ???? The Jets got HOSED bigtime by Pittsburgh on that trade. Might be the worst trade in Jets history.
yea they really got hosed giving up a 5th round pick. Whos that stud that Pitt drafted with that again. Give me a break captain overreaction. Holmes hasn't been good this season but what he did last year was way more then whatever keeping that 5th pick would have done for us.
Giving up that 5th round pick put us in this mess. This cancer isn't worth the headache and has literally divided this locker room. You are right, getting him for a 5th on his contract year was worth it. He behaved himself and actually played for his money. The mistake was giving him such a big contract after that season. It was a horrible idea looking back.
This happens with every team who loses as much as the Jets did this year after going to to two AFC Championship games the previous two years. pre-madonna's like Holmes come out of the woodwork. What i don't understand is why Holmes is having issues with Sanchez when Holmes is the one who basically lost the Eagles game for us. Reportedly that's where the trouble started as well. That game or the Denver game.
I called this shit last week in the 'copycat' (lol badger sucks home-yis cock) thread about Santonio making the offense worse. Rex said many times in this presser about the mistake about making this worthless punk a team captain. Never make a punk piece of shit your team captain.
When Rex slapped a C on his uni we all assumed it was for 'Captain'. Now we see the brilliance of Rex Ryan...Rex actually slapped a C for 'Cancer' to warn the other team members to stay away from him.
That pick was traded for Bryant McFadden and the sixth rounder used to draft Pro Bowler Antonio Brown...
