If we are going to get rid of Schotty then it makes sense to do it soon. If we are waiting for him to find an HC role then we'll likely miss several good OC targets. I don't believe he is gone but, if he is, then you'd expect the Jets management to ditch him quickly and start negotiations with someone like Norv immediately.
While I'd love to see what our offense and mark can do under a new OC I can't escape the feeling that Tanny fucked him over time and time again. From giving him Clemens to prepare with then duming Fare on him 2 days b4 kickoff then going with a rookie with zero experience then killing off our O line and receiving core. I mean if tanny was trying to sabatoge shotty he couldn't have done much better. That being said, please fire shotty today.
I both agree and disagree. I think that Schotty isn't the problem alone. Although many fans probably won't agree with us, Rex is responsible for the overall philosophy, approach, and disicpline (or lack thereof). There's no doubt he probably gave Schotty instructions of certain things he wanted. That said, the offense has often been horrible,and at best, has been inconsistent and lacking identity. There is a long list of reasons why Schotty isn't qualified to be an OC at any level save perhaps Pop Warner that have nothing to do with Rex. He must go, and the sooner the better. Screw being classy or trying to help him. He certainly hasn't helped the team any.
The Jets do need to make changes and while Schotty isn't the sole reason for all of these offensive woes, he certainly is a major culprit. There is no way for Rex Ryan to save face with this move. He has supported Schotty all season long, as recent as last week, and to make the move really makes Ryan seem full of shit. But in the end it is a move that needs to happen.
Maybe they're going to put him as a QB coach like he was at San Diego and bring in a new OC, thats the only thing I can think of.
If true, that's amazing. What are teams seeing from the Jets offense that makes them say, "I need to talk to that guy about running my entire team!!"

Teams only get draft picks for head coaches that make a lateral move. I.E. Belichick, Parcells and Herm. (BB was promoted to HC before he went to NE)
