I found it laughable that on ESPN, Hunter was the one who took issue with Holmes attitude. Hunter of all people.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7410299/new-york-jets-revamp-offensive-staff-sources-say As coach Rex Ryan said last week, Scottenheimer may get a head coaching job, but if he doesn't, sources say the Jets will strongly consider Norv Turner and Josh McDaniels to replace him as coordinator if either is available. If Schottenheimer doesn't land a head coaching job, the Jets would not necessarily fire him. They traditionally structure assistant coaches' contracts to allow the team to reassign duties. Thus, Schottenheimer could face a demotion, but it would hinge on the team's ability to hire a capable replacement, such as Turner or McDaniels.
the offense was built around running and short passing...i think the coaching staff - Schotty and Rex - drilled don't make mistakes into Sanchez' head that he was already afraid to open up the offense. Would always look for the short outs and ins which would eventually lead to an INT where there was no way to stop the defensive player. Sanchez always seems to play like a different QB when they have to abandon that dink and dunk offense and play in comeback mode in the 4th quarter - down 4, 5 minutes to go, 90 yards -- and Sanchez would play wit ha confidence you never saw the rest of the game. I think an OC that can allow Sanchez to play like that all game would be huge. How many years has this offense failed to score points in the first quarter? That adds pressure all over the team - defense can't falter, offense plays don't make a mistake, and it allows inferior teams to stay in games. That lack of production in the first qtr falls on the OC and his inability to properly game plan or make adjustments game to game...season to season.
Yea when I read that I definitely had the "this nigga here" face on. The nerve. The only tackle I've seen give up a sack on a one step drop.
Tannenbaum added to the 3PM presser...seems likely changes are coming. Wouldn't mind Pettine going to Miami either, the best defense we had was year one when Ryan was calling the plays.
He was here 3 years before Rex and finished in the bottom half of the league all 3 years. The guy has had 6 years and hasn't gotten it done. Every year we have the same conversation about the inconsistent offense. Rex definitely deserves blame as well but there isn't much to be said to defend schotty.
Pettine is far more valuable to the jets than schotty is. Although the defense hasn't been as dominant as it has been in years past, it has been pretty damn good. In addition the first year Rex was here, no team in the league had seen his exotic blitz packages and so no one knew how to gameplan against us. I think i heard a stat yesterday on ESPN that said the defense has had to play a lot more this year and added with the fact that our offense is inept makes for a bad combination.
Hunter had a shit season and he will be gone or just kept for depth but I never once questions his drive, heart, or willingness to play. One of those guys that shouldn't have been a starter but he played to the best of his ability -- which is a backup depth role. Problem I have is why didn't Mangold, sanchez, LT, Burress, or Ferg say something first?
