DeCastro looks like a very good possibility. The Titans would have loved to draft him.

Oakland losing to SD will help monstrously. Not only will we move ahead of the Chargers, but that's +2 on OAK's SOS.

The way things are falling, if Dallas beats the G-men, I think we have #14.

Thats what I figure now... Broncos loss, SD win and Dallas win is what we root for and we are looking at a nice pick. Surprisingly, we have all of our picks too..

We want Seattle to win too. Both are 7-8, but we can't catch AZ in SOS, Seattle we have a shot.

Not looking good....Zona up by 10 with 10 mins to go.

    15/16 looks more realistic.

You know, if the Jets were going to miss the playoffs then things couldn't have fallen better for them than they have so far. I mean I'm not celebrating missing to playoffs, not by any means, but short of making the playoffs you couldn't have asked for a better result so far tonight.

And with that interception Oakland has pretty much lost the game. So let's pull for the Cowboys to lose. I don't think it makes a big difference in the first round because we were going to get an impact player, but picking at 14 or 15 in the second round substantially improves your chances of getting someone who slipped out of the first round.

Cardinals win. That means we're at 16 with a Giants win, 15 with a Cowboys win. Would've been 14 if Seattle had won.

I'd do back flips if we land DeCastro, but even if not this puts us in position to land a veryu good talent in round one and beyond. Silver lining for sure.

My question is would we be better off addressing the tackle and guard positions through Free agency and drafting a couple of line backers early?

My predictions or what I want Jets to do

Round 1: Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
Round 2: Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
Round 3: Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU
Round 4: David Paulson, TE, Oregon

I'm very poor at determining trade values so I'm going to ask the question here, and it'll be naive because I don't have a good sense for trade values in the NFL when draft picks are involved. But do we have any player we could trade, along with a 2nd or 3rd round pick to aquire a pick in the 19 to 22 slot range in the first round. In essence to try to get a second first round pick?

The way Dallas is playing so far we're going to pick #16

Well as a starting base here is a link to the old school draft value chart.

    http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php

Our second is worth about half as much as the range of first your looking for. Most likely you would not want to lose the caliber of player it would cost us to add to our second to get a first back. The player would either have to be young and very good or if a bit Older going to a player off contender that feels they are that one player away. The players value would have to equal a mid to early second. There is no way we are doing that.

The trade to move up for Sanchez was seen as value highway robery. We trade our first, second, and 3 journeymen that we had signed as FA's to move up into the top five. Most people that follow the draft and trades involveing it closely were shocked we got it for so little.

I would see it very likely we stay put this year unless we get a good chance to trade down.

Filling what holes we can through FA would be good. Where we are drafting gives us tons of flexibility to go BPA at any of several needs. There will be talent where ever we want ot place a guy in the mid of the first.

thanks, I figured it would be unlikely that we could get back into the bottom 1/3 of the first round. But it was worth asking. There is one trade I can think of that might do it, but I wouldn't pull the trigger on what I'm thinking about without being able to sign a specific individual or as a replacement before doing the trade, and that would be unlikely to occur in that order as the signing would lower the value of the player being traded. oh well.

Does anyone think Quinton Coples will drop to #15/16? I think he might. He is a top 5 talent, but he is a guy that could drop to where we draft at. I think he could be an excellent 3-4 OLB, and he would be a no brainer to draft if he is still on the board.
