PPL wake the fuck up and call a spade a spade. Schotty sucks... period. Stop tryna find a scapegoat every fucking game. It's schottenheimer! You're mad at a guy because he became pissed off that in a playoff like game, he only was targeted once. A team had this guy as their #1 receiver and he made one of the greatest catches in Superbowl history and played at a big time level. Then he came to our team and played at a big time level. We need to stop looking around for players to blame and point the finger at the guy whose been the issue for the last 5 years. Obviously, teams got production out of Holmes. Same with Burress. We need to stop pussyfooting around the obvious issue.
Sanchez is the one who sucks... Getting to AFC Championship games twice in a row with him at QB should have given Schotty a lifetime deal... Just watch the game, eyes open... He's horrible.
The other Holmes thread has quotes from Jets players saying Holmes quit on them today and the past few weeks. Players like LT. That should speak volumes.
Per Manish Mehta: LT on Holmes: “There were some guys in huddle unhappy w/Tone’s demeanor. It’s tough for guys to follow a captain who behaves in that manner" Guess you are more qualified to say who quit on the Jets than LT, huh? Try again tool.
Isaac Newton, have you seen glimpses of NFL material from Sanchez? Because if you haven't open your eyes. Sanchez hasn't been nearly as good as this team needs him to be in order to succeed, but we have all seen him perform. You don't give up on a 3rd year QB who has shown signs of success at this level. When Sanchez, Keller, Kearly, and Turner are the players who you hear making plays - there is a whole lot of wrong going on. Did he throw shitty passes into the backs of linemen today? Yeah. But for every pick that Sanchez has thrown, or fumble that he has coughed up - there is one or more people that deserve the blame as well for being involved in some way. Fans like you have NO idea what is going on with this team and its identity. Play calling is suspect, defense is suspect, special teams is suspect, offensive line is suspect, rushing attack is suspect, WR's are suspect. Let's put all of the blame on a 3rd year QB who, if he played for any other market, wouldn't even be close to being on the radar for removal from a starting role. End of story.
Holmes has to be chewed out and humiliated by Rex. Strip him of his Captaincy and if he doesn't get his attitude together just flat out cut him or trade him. Obviously the guy is talented but he's turning into a cancer.
And what happened? The Jets scored one of their increasingly rare touchdowns. Not exactly the strongest argument for your belief that Holmes is the engine that drives the Jets' offense. Holmes has talent. He's not an elite receiver, though, or a true impact play-maker. He's a solid #2. Not worth a whole lot, though, when he's sulking through games. His own teammate claimed he's been in quit mode for a while now. According to one player, who asked to remain nameless, it wasn't just this game. "He quit," the player said. "It's happened for the past two to three weeks. It's happened all season." nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/01/receiver_santonio_holmes_bench.html
I saw every game. Schottenheimer is inept. Is Sanchez great? No. Did anyone on our offense have a great year. No. Did our OC put them in position to do so? HELL NO! When almost every player on your offense is having a "down year", the coaches have to take accountability. You can blame Holmes and Sanchez and Greene and whoever you want. We've suffered from poor play calling WAY before any of those guys were Jets.
That's it. Everything will become more evident as the week goes by. You could read between the lines during Holmes interview. He said he didn't hustle back to the huddle. He was pouting and it was obvious. Then the CAPTAIN gets pulled and goes and sits by himself like a baby. Some Captain.
If the Jets pick in the top 15, take the guy in my avatar. Say what you will about his stupid DUI in the offseason but this guy doesn't quit and will only leave the field if he is seriously hurt.
I'd be interested in seeing him on the Pats for a 4th or 5th rounder, assuming he'd rework his contract. I think it's going to be hard for the Jets to keep him considering how he acted at the end of the year and the fact that Rex made him a captain.
Rex appointed the captains. I thought it was strange at the time as most teams take a vote. It looks like it came back to bite him. Holmes has always had talent, but I wouldn't call him a leader. It seems like he needs a heavy hand to keep him in line, and Rex is letting him do his own thing.
there is no way on earth that the jets would trade a guy like holmes to the patriots - anyway you guys dont need anyone other than gronkowski its clear
i dont know how it is in the NFL but with soccer teams the captains are always appointed by the coaches (and the captain on a soccer team is typically a much bigger deal than being a team captain in an nfl team, or at least that is how it has always seemed to me).
