He's got great talent, but with the talent comes attitude. It will be interesting to see what happens next year. Unlike most teams where captains are voted upon, Rex personally picked the Jet captains. I thought it was a mistake at the time. Is he going to take it away next year? The same question could be applied to Sanchez.

and maybe just maybe he wasnt targeted because he wasnt open. he is lazy and doesnt bother to run a fast or crisp route half of the time. he is a major key when its a run because he honestly doesnt even try to make the guy think he is running a route and then block him. he is a low effort guy with a ton of talent. he is a piece of shit.

    more great team chemistry:

Cromartie on if there was enough effort: "maybe on one side of the ball"

so true. He turned to me last year with tears in his eyes and said that he will never see the Jets in a SB. I told him that in my 35 years I haven't either and that he has a better chance than I do. There is no way he stops being a jet fan.

Well then you clearly root for the team for reasons more than football. It's how I feel about Floyd Mayweather. I watch him for his talents as an athlete. I'm not looking for a role model for my child. If the guy can win you games, that's all that should matter.

Shit like that is on Rex. Imagine a Belichik player saying that? He'd be gone.

mayweather is an asshat too. i used to respect his fighting ability but as time has gone on his douchebaggery has outweighed it. i root for him to get knocked out every time he fights now.

that is part of the problem, people dont care about doing things the right way anymore, they dont care if the guy on their team is a good guy or an asshole. they dont care if he is doing steroids or not. they just want to win at all costs.

i dont believe in rooting for jerks.

its not even looking for a role model. its about not saying its ok cause he is on my team. if hes an asshole id like to see him change but when he doesnt id rather see him go away.

    there's no defending holmes actions.

his actions are inexcusable. you don't throw your team, or your teammates under the bus like that. especially if your a captain.

voice your displeasure behind closed doors and keep it in house, not for the world to see.

the jets need to stop going after guys with questionable character. they'll look nice in their first season when their motivated or the teams winning. (see holmes 2010) but when the going gets tough you see who they really are.

But Mayweather doesnt get knocked out and he's the best. Oscar Gay La Hoya was a nice guy and he got his ass whooped by Mayweather. End of the day, Holmes has done some shady things this year. However, in the heat of the battle, getting in someone's grill sometimes is needed...especially on a team full apologists(coaching staff and players included). I'm all for defending your guys but at some point they need to defend themselves. When your child gets in trouble once, maybe you say "my child is a good kid". When your child screws up all the time be honest and say "my child is fucking up and is a knucklehead". You know how many times guys like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant got in guys faces and held them accountable? It's called being competitive. This is a professional team....not an after school club. It's not time to make friends.

just got online today for the first time. lots of great stuff in this thread, but this is my favorite. also props to mystikol and jetaho.

and for those who argue that talent trumps chemistry... i LOVE to compete against people like you. in football, especially. you're adorable.

    BUMP!

Just couldn't agree more. And adding to that I think deploying your attitude wins you championships in the long run, think John wooden.

I'm still trying to figure out where all this praise he gets is coming from. The dude is a waste. He doesn't have what it takes to be a #1 receiver, and now he's turned into a team cancer, while he's supposed to be a team captain.

Holmes is a cancer that needs to be removed. He must be traded, or cut. I noticed him in the first half, last man in the huddle, starting his sulking act.

As Captain his behavior is unforgettable. Rex claims he did not know he was on the bench. Time to take control of your team again Rex! Also quit toeing the company line on Shotty, I am tired of it.

Someone needs to remind Cro it was just last week he was getting punked by Victor Cruz.

He was a legit #1 receiver...until he got his money.

    holmes was right

he spent a whole season in the huddle listening to dumbassed plays called by our moron offensive coordinator --- just think back to that series yesterday at midfield when after a penalty, Schittenheimer, in effect played for a punt--

Holmes is a frustrated with that ignoramus and his playcalling as you and I and every Jet fan is and finally said so

    I SALUTE HIM

Did you ever stop for a second and think that Sanchez was forcing the ball to Green and other guys because his #1 receiver stopped running routes hard and had quit? How much energy do you think the Fins put towards stopping Holmes after it was clear to everyone watching that he was running at half-speed?

Think about more than one piece of the puzzle. Things don't happen in a vacuum in life.

yeah what a great guy Holmes is  After he makes a first down he celebrates as if it were the game winner then the classless baffoon drops the ball at the refs feet---------to add to his resume , he dogs it during games, pouts,, and acts like a lil kid that did not get his way,,now he throws coaches and team mates under the bus--------yeah boy do I want this guy in a fox hole with me.
