Love Doug Martin as well. Problem is that the FO has used a 3rd Rd, 4th Rd, and 4th Rd pick the last 3 years on RB. It's hard to imagine using another 2-3 Rd pick on a RB with so many other pressing needs. This is one of the reasons I was furious with the Powell pick last year.
The sad thing is, is that with all of those picks spent on a Rb, we havent struck gold... I mean Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice MJD, Lesean McCoy werent first rounders and look what they turned out to be. Its sad, that as of now, out of 4 picks we coulnt find a great back. If RB is such a concern, I wouldnt mind the Jets trading for Ben Tate. I think he has the ability to be a great back and they might trade him if Arian comes back combined with his injury... Probably never going to happen
Oh yeah, completely forgot about Blount... He fits the Jets so well in his playing style, and a one two punch of Greene and Blount would be pretty damn good And character issues have never caused the Jets to steer away.
What happened to this kid? I mean last year he was an absolute beast that seemed to be a sure top level prospect. Now he's dropped, and I've seen and heard very little of him... i really liked him as a possible 1st rounder for the Jets, but now I am going against that thought...
Polk looked decent today- had a nice long run... And kendall wright also had a good game Did anyone see how brandon Jenkins did? I know he had a sack, and was an inch away from a strip sack. I was back and forth during the game, did anyone else see it?
I thought Jenkins did do pretty well. I feel he read a few run plays pretty well and was also to create some pressure. He looked like he had a good first step off the snap which could be a great thing. Also in the Washington Baylor game, it looked like Jermaine Kearse had a good game. He does have the size/speed combination that I think the team should be looking for, but by looking at his scouting report he might have a case of the dropsies. I still would not mind grabbing him in the 3-4 range. Edit: And one more player from FSU I think the Jets may look into is TE Beau Reliford in the 6th round. So so receiver, but great blocker. Just throwing his name out this with the rest of the blocking TEs
Fuller is a great talent that just fell off this year. It's like the chemistry of the whole offense just collapsed. He's got a lot of ability, and I'd love to get a player of his caliber later. Just like a kid like Juron Criner, except his deal is injuries.
Mercilus is looking very good, as always. Impressed with his tackle for a loss on a running play in the early 3rd Q. Another player in my recent mock, Pead is playing very well.
Mercilus is a solid Rd 1 prospect. Mercilus just had another sack while being held by UCLA's O-lineman. Incredible talent, I hope he declares. He should since Illinois coaching staff will be 100% new.
OT Matt Reynolds BYU He is a solid 3rd round pick and would be an immediate upgrade over Wayne Hunter.
Age doesn't phase me when it comes to OL prospects, more so when it isn't in the 1st Round. You get a rookie starter and 5 to 6 prime years, then decreasing years then on. So you basically get the full value of the rookie deal, then you can decide if you want to retain him. I'd take 6-7 years of starting from a 3rd Round pick. It's RT, not LT, you don't have to sink a lot money into a long term deal for them...
Three players on SC playing today that you should keep an eye on: Alshon Jeffrey Melvin Ingram Devin Taylor (I do not think he declared yet. Many mocks had us looking at him in round 1, but his stock has dropped some. If we go elsewhere in the first and Taylor comes out, he could be an option in the middle rounds)
Alshon Jeffery? Kids a beast. Wow that was pretty amazing... He's showed that he can stretch the field- something the Jets lack, only thing that would make picking him is that the draft is soooooo deap at WR. Oh yeah, how about this Antonio Allen kid from SC? IMO, a good prospect at SS, I've seen him come up and make a lot of big plays in the run game... anyone know how he is in coverage?
