Yes, I think there are so much wrong with the offense that the OC just have to go. Don't understand when some fans argue as if Sanchez should take the responsibility of sacking himself. I have no problem with building around Sanchez if they would renegotiate his contract to better reflect his status, a qb with promise but limitations that might very well end up being an above average qb.
IMO, the only way the Jets become better than the Pats in the forseeable future, is for Brady to go away.
Okay, I just wasnt sure, but I was hoping this was what it really meant. Because I completely agree. If we miss out on the playoffs, Schotty should be gone immediately.
Thats the one thing Jets fans are counting down for... he'll be 35 next year, and we just gotta hope he only has 3 more years left.
Sorry, I don't think its happenening for at least 4 more years. I think the Pats are geering up to putting together what will become the best OL in the BB era over the next 5 years. Its an OL that will protect Brady and provide a respectable run game as well. With Hernandez, Gronkowski, Edelman, Welker and a big fast WR down the road finally, Idon't see why Brady couldn't be effective for that long. Face it Brady is a serial competitor. He lives for these games, and what else can he do that more fun till he's 40, I'm now fully assured that Ryan Mallet, baring injury, will never throw a meaningful pass as a Patriot. Brady's replacement is STILL a sophomore in College Now if BB got my notes and is already implementing my plan for the defense, then the Pats are ready to move ahead with a few more Lombardi's.
Do you think the Pats are going to screw welker over with the franchise tag or reward him with a decent multi-year contract? Also with the Patriots OL - arent a lot of the members of the OL either becoming UFAs this year or due to become them next year? Every team has issues, its just the Pats have largely been hidden by the excellence of Brady - the sooner he retires the happier I will be.
I firmly believe the Jets knew the front 7 needed to be rebuilt as early as this past offseason. With the available options w/ cap space/ammo they did a great job of fixing the DL for the long haul. Not only do they have 2 young plus players in Wilkerson & Ellis, they also have great depth with plenty of size. Now the LB corps? I think they thought they could hang on one more year with this current starting group. BT/Scott/Harris/Pace is a tough a corps with guys capable of filling alot of different roles. Problem is, some of them have lot a step and all of them have average speed at best. They're all still valuable pieces in their own way...but together presents some MAJOR deficiencies against teams with good O-lines and athletes who attack the flats/edge. The biggest problem is the depletion of Bart Scott. Those 2 or 3 big collisions he caused behind the LOS in every game last year, this team really really misses. Those are momentum swingers and drive killers. Now moving forward, Jets need to bring in 2 new starting LB's. Someone next to Harris and a true 3 down edge rusher. With ample cap space jets should make a run at Mario Williams. I can only dream of what Rex would be able to do with that versatile and dominant of an athlete. In the middle, I really like Curtis Lofton, free agent to be from Atlanta. He's the same kind of thumper that Harris is but covers the pass a little better.I think he fits this teams personality and will make running on this team virtually impossible.
Mario Williams will be the biggest FA in the offseason. I just dont think we have the money to make a run at him while trying to fill other needs just as big- Safety and RT. There are a handful of FA Safeties that should be priority number one. Dashon Goldson or Michael Griffin would help tremendously- adding speed, big play capability and the ability to cover the TE. A more realistic option at OLB is Cliff Avril, but I just dont think we have the money for a Safety and him... Tanny is going to have to have a great offseason.
It's a good write up but he neglected to expand into 2 more key points. 1) Sanchez can't read the coverage quick enough because the right side collapses in less than 2 seconds. QBs need a minimum of 3 seconds to get a check down read if the First option is blanketed. 2) The WRs aren't creating separation to enable a read in the first place. He mentions Plax is slow and scares no one so they double Holmes but neglects to say there's never anyone open to pass to unless its Lt or Keller for 5 over the middle.
Every fan is sure about certain aspects of the team they obsess over. The aspects that they think will put over the top the previous crushing failures of recent years. I have seen you blame injury for defensive... woes? If the Patriots are so superior at talent acquisition, why weren't they able to mask those woes like Green Bay did last season? Pro sports has become a lesser form of religion for a lot of people. Prone to blind faith, and misinterpretation. All to provide psychological comfort. In times of adversity. The devil still exists, and he is waiting to put your faith to the test, but this year he is unfortunately not wearing green and white.
1. Total bullshit, the line isn't great, but plenty of Qbs succeed with shitty lines, he has taken plenty of sacks and made plenty of bad throws when he had time. 2. WR separation is at times an issue, but he never throws guys open, and he has shown a tendency to miss guys when they are open.
