He has great hands, runs good routes, great size at 6'2, he's projected as a 2nd rounder and runs a 40 in the range of 4.40 to mid 4.50s, If he can up that 40 a bit at the combine what do you guys think about drafting Al Toon's son?
Obviously the sentimental fan in me would love to have Toon on our roster much like I wanted Dan Klecko but he doesn't have the size to fiill in for Plax and I have no confidence in Kerley as a #2 so basically we would have Holmes and then 2 number 3's. Not good.
Hmm you don't think 6'2 - 6'3 is a good size for a #1 receiver? Then we'd be able to put Holmes back at #2 for the underneath stuff like last season.
Would be a great 'feel good" story, but Toon is overrated as a 2nd Rd Talent. Here's the better Big Ten receiver: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=2350533&postcount=1
I like that hes a late rounder but his projected 40 time(4.59) is a little worrisome to me but we'll see once the combine comes around. This Receiving draft class is pretty strong so there's a bunch of players we really can't go wrong drafting. Anyone over Plaxico at this point, I love his RZ production but my god can he burn someone deep for once.
Good one!! Just like WW a little more. One thing I loved about Al Toon, he's a class guy all the way. Never showboated , gave the ref the ball after a TD or he did his famous little flip of the ball a few feet in the air. It's a shame his career was cut short he could have been close to a HOF player with another 5/6 years.
And he still loves the Jets. I liked Wesley too. He commented on one of my Facebook pictures once and that 86 game against Miami was one of my greatest memories as a kid.
From the little I've seen Toon is value in rd 3 at best... especially in a draft with so many good WRs.
I would rather he didn't up his 40 time at the combine so we could pick him up in the 6th round instead.
