again, please pull out the quote where i stated i didn't root for any team. would this be another lie? if your going to quote me, at least pull out the post and state it as fact. you have made all assumptions based on what i can only assume is anger and nasty attitude because we disagree on sanchez or football, which ever it is, take a pill, you'll get over it.
I disagree. The concept is that if the best player available is a QB, don't shy away. If the guy's a projected 2nd or 3rd rounder, then there's no way that you can definitively say he will be better than Sanchez. I'm well aware of that. Why do I have to have a particular player in mind? I'm no scout. But I'm sure there are potential QBs with upside that the scouts see better than I do. The Patriots didn't think they were getting their future star in Tom Brady. You win Super Bowls with picks like that. That's not saying that the guy you pick will automatically replace Sanchez immediately. I'm saying that drafting a QB isn't necessarily a bad game plan because honestly, it's a middle of the road position for us (there are worse positions, RT, S, etc.). Hope to strike gold, especially since these players don't put you in cap hell like they used to.
Sadly, I'm not sure Jason Campbell or Kyle Orton (both free agents this off-season) wouldn't be better then Sanchez at this point. Alex Smith is also probably better and he's a free agent although I assume he gets re-signed by SF. If I'm Tanny I get a new OC and pick up one of those three players in case Sanchez doesn't show improvement.
actually, i enjoy the banter from people like you that take mere disagreements on players and teams and get all pissed offover nothing. i merely have a different opinion, nothing to get so worked up over that i start calling for people to leave the board or get banned over a disagreement. i don't bless, never did!
I just realized you seem to be under the impression I want to dump Sanchez if we get a QB in the draft. That's not the case. I just think using a high pick on a QB doesn't hurt you financially like it used to, so it could be worth it. You either get a QB to replace Sanchez eventually or develop trade bait. Or he bombs and it'd be just like any other pick that would have bombed because he fits right into the rookie wage scale.
Here it is - right here a few pages up. From where I grew up and the English I learned - when a person says they "don't hold loyalties to any team" and "i wouldn't completely classify myself a jets fan as much as just a football fan" and you are "a football fan in general" who doesn't want to be "locked into one team and not being able to enjoy the NFL" sounds to me like you sure as hell don't root for any one NFL team.
.. .and yet, we were still in the game in the second half. Had the defense stopped the Colts on that drive leading up the the half, who knows. The point is though, our franchise QB was a spectator in that game at best. That was the time when the defense was being tested, and the running game was off, that the QB should've taken over the team and willed them to a victory. Tebow style if you will. Giving what I've seen from Tebow this season, I would've bet money we beat the Colts with that defense and run game. But of course that is hypothetical..
and I disagree with you, completely There ARE no quarterbacks remotely as good as Sanchez in terms of becoming an immediate starter in the middle of the first two rounds where you suggest we find the "new Joe Montana".. there are NONE and since we have a very good starting quarterback, it would be a disaster to draft one high in the draft Seriously folks --- take a look at the other young starting quarterbacks drafted in the last three drafts in the NFL --- the Colt McCoys, Josh "Jamarcus" Freemans, Sam Bradfords and the like --- Sanchez better than all of them except Stafford IMO and Stafford was the first pick in the draft
Check out post #208 above. I don't think I "misquoted" you. And you still have not told us who the Jets should replace Sanchez with.
seriously, joesmoe Let Jet fans discuss their quarterback go to Frontrunners.com where you can discuss the multitude of teams you root for and their issues..... the Packers last year and whichever team won the Superbowl in each year of your existance
Don't bother with him, I argued with him a few pages back. There are a few posters here who will spew garbage but won't back up anything they say with concrete facts; all they do is delegate to strawman arguments. Its not worth your time man.
I'm just here to dump on the garbage QB, realistically, we have no options, so he should still be the QB for the upcoming season. The OC should be removed from office by the close of business next Monday. With a new OC next year, we should then do our damn best to bring in a veteran free agent QB and declare a open contest for the starting job from the first day. If Sanchez wins, then he, should be playing for a new contract, due in the next off season, if not, see ya!!
He was a spectator who threw for 2 TD's and 257 yards. Let me know when Tebow ever does that.
chill out, I'm not advocating that Tebow is better than Sanchez, my point was that Tebow does what it takes to win and Sanchez has failed to do so when the defense and running games are off their games.
Right. Replace our young QB with one of two QBs who have each been replaced twice by other unsuccessful QBs . Last time I checked, I have not seen the Redskins, Bears, Raiders, or Broncos holding up any Lombardi trophies or even coming close to one. And the Redskins replaces Campbell with worse players and I'd take Sanchez over Palmer any day. He's already outplayed him 3 times in big games. Orton can't hold a job either. And if he moves to the Jets, it will be his 4th team in a short career. Come on, you can't be serious.
I guess that is why he has won 60% of his starts, has 4 road playoff wins, 2 AFC Championship appearances when the defense let the team down while he played well, and has something like 11 4th quarter comebacks in three years and the most of any QB in the NFL since the mid point of last season. He doesn't have what it takes to win?????? What have you been watching???
