    BTW,

I don't know if any of you guys saw the WMU vs Purdue game.

Jordan White, Wr, WMU was incredible. White looks like a perfect slot receiver in the NFL. Probably has moved his stock up to be a late rd pick.

    He's 23 and a 6y Senior.

I don't think Zeitler makes it to the 3rd... therefore I say pick a TE in the 3rd and a project interior OL in the 7th.

Have Turner and Moore fight it out for the starting RG spot.

Its a red flag, but Blount had much bigger flags coming out and has held down a job for two years. The interview process is goign to be huge for him to ace if he wants to remain in the top of the first.

His physical talent is there, his tendancy to over persue and temper may hold his stock back. It would not mind getting a firey guy like him at all. We need that on our defense.

Must have a WR in the first two rounds and really the Jets need two WR's. Let's get some speed and sign Pierre Garcon and draft Alshon Jeffries. Than we can put some legitimate playmakers on the field when we spread the field.

Better offensive line play will hopefully lead to better QB play, which in turn will hopefully make our wide receivers looks better. Without improving the offensive line, nothing happens.

I agree with our first pick going towards an amazing pass rusher, Rex's system relies entirely on being able to get to the QB to force them to throw before they want to(hopefully in the direction of Revis). Lets not forget why the defense was amazing in 2009 and why Revis had arguably the best season a corner has ever had in 2009, because QB's HAD to throw at Revis much quicker because of the pressure so IMO a superb pass rusher is our most important need. I completely agree on that whole mock pretty much.

The good thing is if we don't make the play-offs there's a good chance one between Upshaw and Mercilus falls to us.

I'm not sure about Upshaw, he's already projected as a top 15 pick and I'm sure he'll have a monster combine which will only increase his stock. If we can get him though we definitely should.

Not going to pretend to know about college football. But you hit every nail on the head here. I brought up Mercilus a few weeks ago in the OLB thread. After youtubing the top 4 you picked i would be ecstatic if this is how it played out.

That makes no sense whatsoever. The pass rushing OLB position is arguably THE most important position in a 3-4 alignment and we all know that the Jets' pass rush is a joke and has been. The team also needs greater speed vs. the run. I don't know if there will be any good OLBs available in FA, but usually there aren't. With Thomas probably done and Pace done within the next year or two (or should be), the Jets need to make getting young OLBs a priority. Improving the pass rush makes our secondary even better.

While the RT position is important and needs to be upgraded, there's no way it's more important than OLB. Besides, the Jets don't need to start a rookie at RT next season. They need to sign a good FA RT, then can draft a RT somewhere in the 4th - 6th rounds to groom for depth or to replace the veteran FA in a year or two. In addition, if Schottenheimer is back, it won't really matter if the Jets start 5 Pro Bowlers on the OL. Two #1 picks on the OL is enough. Adding another would be foolish.

    MY BEST CASE SCENARIO

First schotty needs to get the HC job and leave i think rex and tanny are tring to help him out the door by talking him up. second holmes has to stay getting ride of him just dont make financial sense. Sanchez is not a tom brady but hes good enough to win a superbowl. just stay with 60-40 run - pass. let bart go let plex go let tomlison go let eric smith go let hunter go let pace go

IN MOVES - David DeCastro in 1st round i say take a shot on lavonte david in round 2 and put him at at strong safty if he can handle the Line backer position. GUY IS gooD. 3rd round try and grab mcnutt if still available. IF WE GET THESE guys we will be alot more flexable on our moves going tward free agancy mcnutt will replace plex i think decastro will make our offensive line the best in the league and lavonte david will be a great OLB in the NFL. hes not like the gholston he gets off blocks. If he cant make it at OLB because hes only 220 then hes a good SS hes fast and a real ball hawk and a sure tackler. he can keep up with TE and RB maybe not the best in zone coverage but jimmy is a good zone guy not so much a man guy they will complement each other well. Free agancy get some guys tanny to fill the needs maybe 1 big name the rest value players we need to save some money build chemistry otherwise you will have the eagles team or worse yet our performance repeated.

Offensive line is the foundation of the offense defensive line is the foundation of the defense the last 2 years we had arguably the best line on both sides and both sides did well. now 2 rookies make it a little tough on defense there good so we were still solid on that side (7th overall defense) offensive line was bad almost 28th huh our offense was around 28th go figure why is that... because a bad line makes it hard to run the ball which makes it hard to throw the ball because your 1 dimensional with make your offense struggle. DRAFt David DeCastro in round 1 our defense will be better next year when the 2 rookies on the line grow up a bit and take the OLB in round 2 still solid pick we cant miss on our 1st pick in the draft we cant miss it.. DeCastro is a safe pick OLB are the 2nd hardest pick to get right.. qb is the hardest.

Why was he a 6th year Sr.? Did he have injury issues? Isn't WMU the same school that produced Jordy Nelson?

He was Redshirt injuried in 2006 and injuried in 2008 and didn't play.

    Nelson was from Kansas State.

This is just a hypothetical for WW85 or anyone else. I've been reading a lot of mock drafts today, those that have been updated and I came across one mock that had something interesting that popped a question in my mind.

First a couple of disclaimers, it's from a sporting news mock draft so IMHO it holds no basis in reality and also IMHO there is no way this player falls to 16 in reality. But let's for a moment forget the source and lets forget for a moment the reality of the matter.

So setting those two things aside. They have the Jets at #16 taking Trent Richardson. Now their draft is highly suspect and I hold sporting news is low regard, but just for strictly hypotheticals they also have the following players available when the Jets draft at 16.

Who would you pick if all of these players by some miracle were on the board when the Jets pick, as they are on the board in the Sporting news mock.

    Trent Richardson RB
    Michael Floyd WR
    Melvin Ingram LB
    Fletcher Cox DT
    Kendall Wright WR
    Nick Perry DE
    Luke Kuechly LB
    Courtney Upshaw LB
    Cordy Glenn G
    Donta Hightower LB
    Vontaze Burfict LB

Given Rex Ryan is our coach my money would be on Upshaw, Richardson or Ingram.

Again, noway this falls this way, but it does pose an interesting question.

Richardson is a top 7 talents, maybe 5. I say pick him and dont look back. This would ensure a boost in our run game, and a change in the outlook of the offense back to a run first team.

On your list it would have to be Upshaw. As much as I like Richardson, and he should be long gone, our needs outweigh drafting a runningback in Rd 1.

You need to add Whitney Mercilus, David DeCastro & Alshon Jefferey to your list.

I don't know if Tanny & Rex are going to take a 7+ million hit and cut Holmes, if this happens a WR could be a Rd 1 target.

I'm just glad you had two players I had in my draft. Made me think I wasn't completely off base with my selections haha. Nice mock!

Trading Holmes would eliminate the cap hit entirely? Or am I mistaken?
