Yup, here's another Sanchez thread. There's been a lot of back and forth debate about Mark. Some good, but most have been retarded drivel. Is he perfect? From from it. But is he as bad as a lot of morons on this board think? Let's look at the stats. No grey area, black and white. And no, I didn't run out Marks stats for the year, those are actuals. FTR, as far as I'm concerned I've had the best 2 years of Jets football in my life, so I'm on board the Rex and Dirty bandwagon until the wheels fall off.
I like the chart. Expectations rose very high with our success the first 2 years. But not much had been done to stabilize a WR core and solid o-line play. I'd still like to see him under a new OC
How can you call it objective and then state that you're riding the bandwagon til the wheels fall off?
The only thing that I gathered from that is that he might be on a career trajectory similar to Eli Manning's if he hasn't hit his ceiling already.
Factor in college experience and he probably has about 1-2 years less service than all of these quarterbacks do.
He's near the bottom in almost all those categories, what am I missing here? 6 of those 11 QB's have won a championship...and our guy isn't one of them.
i think what you're missing is that if you compare his stats to those of the quarterbacks like big ben, and eli ( who are considered top tier players), you will see that sanchez's third year is comparable. this is why i think we should not all over rect with the replace sanchez chant and give him time to see what qb he could truly become.
Eli seems to be the exception rather than the rule. He stunk for 4 years and now has become pretty good. Cherry picking Ben's bad 3rd year is stupid because he was light years better in his first and second seasons than Sanchez has ever been.
All of us have read these kinds of threads all year. The "Sanchez sucksss" threads are neutralized by the "By comparison in year three" threads. I'm pretty much at a coinflip on how I feel about Sanchez. In the past I've been in his corner but I'm starting to have real doubts about some things with him. But my stance is this: You can make all the arguments for him, compare him to all the "elite" QB's in their third years and this and that, blah blah. Jet fans are STARVING for a championship. Whatever age they are. It's a hard sell to peg Sanchez as "on schedule" with the rest of these guys. For a team that was built to win-now, it just kicks the fans while they're already down to hear that Sanchez stacks up by comparison.
Its an interesting chart. I think Sanchez has improved pretty dramatically since he started as a rookie (which I was against btw and was probably wrong about). He is now a slightly better than average NFL starting QB. He has the potential to continue to improve and I think he is capable of being a top 10 starting qb. some people on here think that this is a great team that is being impeded from winning by Sanchez - those people are wrong. This team is unable to rush/pressure the passer w/o blitzing and is suspect against the run and slot receiver defense and is obviously unable to defend top TEs. Offensively the OL has performed poorly all year. Obviously the RT position is a weakness with Wayne Hunter who should be replaced ASAP. Shonne Greene is an average running back. the receiving corps is prone to drops. Sanchez is also pretty average especially in his decision making and ball security. In essence there is a group of fans here who bizarrely believe that this team is much better than it is. Sanchez is not Johnny Unitas, but he is hardly the problem with this team. The immediate fix is to rebuild the Right side of that OL, Add a Pass Rushing DE and decide if McKnight/Connor/Greene need to be replaced. If we toss Schotty under the bus I'm fine with that although I'm not convinced that simply subtracting Schotty achieves anything meaningful - you would have to upgrade the OC to somebody who can further develop Sanchez.
nope, he got banned because he couldn't make a sensible arguement without name calling and getting nasty in another thread. i did enjoy his childish antics while they lasted, knowing he was headed to the "banned" black hole he so deservedly earned. it's not all that hard to banter back and forth without getting nasty because you believe your point of view is the only point of view.
This thread was done before, so I'll keep this short. COMPARING GROSS STATS FROM DIFFERENT YEARS IS POINTLESS. You should be comparing where they stood relative to the rest of the league in their first 3 seasons. League average varies from year to year. This year passing is way up (as seen by the fact that 2 QBs will likely pass Marino's yardage record)
An observer's subjective view...... It's hard to read through all the SANCHEZ SUCKS reactionary crap after a loss around here...... even harder when you've sat through all the jokers who've played QB for the JETS the past 25+ years...... at least this one has come up big in big spots. Yes, the kid hasn't looked good this season. Stats schmats..... save those for fantasy football. I think he regressed on the field. He looks "jumpy" like a scared over caffeinated kid, has been throwing BEHIND his receivers quite often, and overal doesn't seem to have that prescence he showed last year. Granted the comparison isn't a level playing field (no pun intended) as there are alot of contributing negative factors surrounding him in comparison to last year's team. Obviously the O-line comes 1st. He has gotten SMASHED this year. How many QBs have been on the receiving end of multiple FINED hits that didn't receive flags this season? They gambled on Hunter being a replacement after his solid performance last post season..... and lost, albeit not as bad as the Ducasse gamble (but that's another story). The O-line has not only hurt him, but the running game as well, which was a security blanket during his rough patches, and as a kid with 1 year of college experience being thrown into a NYC team with SB aspirations, there are going to be plenty. The receivers..... Chicken & egg theory? is it the play designs or do they just not get open? I know you miss alot on TV, but it seems that no one gets open, compounding the fact that he holds the ball too long as Hunter gets whipped. Where are the shots downfield? Even if he's off target, keep the safeties honest. Was Braylon that important? The revolving door of guys can't help either...... especially w/ the lockout. He makes the effort to put together JETS WEST, but who on the team right now was with him? Dustin Keller. Maybe that's why he leads in receptions.....dunno Playcalling..... there are enough Schotty sucks threads around here. I've been vocal in my dislike of him since Favre was here. Granted ALOT does fall on Sanchez's shoulders. We've expected more at this point. The statistical stuff will fall in line (hopefully). What bothers me is his body language this season. Yes, he's been physically beaten, but mentally beaten is the concern. He needs to toughen up. He has shown us alot of promise the past 2 seasons with his best performances in crunch time, so it's stupid to already want to toss him to the curb. The JETS have always been a "band aid" team looking for the quick fix, but the band aid gets wet, falls off and the bleeding starts again. They need to have the patience to develop a cure, not a band-aid. The Fans too. Leading to the 2009 season the JETS were a stacked team missing it's most important piece, a quaterback. They rolled on Favre and were left at the alter, so they doubled down and went for the kid with the best potential to handle the immediate situation, albeit one with a lower ceiling. They went all in, gambling on a kid with 1 year of college starting experience, so they might as well see it through his rookie contract......... besides, I've seen enough Bubby Brister's, Neil O'donnels, Browing Nagles, etc etc, to warrant a little patience.
thats it. period. lets see sanchez next year under a competent OC. make decisions then. personally i think he has worked miracles based on having been brought along by shotty.
He got banned because he was baited by a troll in another thread, a troll with little to offer besides a very confused layman's understanding of football and a complex about the wrongs done to him by the New York Jets.
LOL, my my my bitter and petty are we? he got banned because he couldn't control his big mouth, fact! i offered my opinion as you offer yours on this board. my understanding of football is better than yours. was never a fan of the losers you thought so highly of gholston, noddle, sanchez, holmes. past coach's (mangenius) that sucked what ever. go back read over your posting history, the players you railed about weren't much for players after all. i merely was more right about most than you. layman? look in the mirror, you've been wrong more than you've been right! jets haven't done anything wrong to me. i'm not so stupid as to get my life all caught up in one football team that it ruins my day/week if they happen to lose or suck. get a life and have a idea, you'll get over it. stop whining about me, so what if i know what i'm talking about better than most, it comes with experience. if you're ever laid off and in need of a job, i have pity on some jets fans and would be willing to offer work to keep you off welfare. main reason i left the state, got tired of paying for all the freeloaders too lazy to work for a living!
