I keep reading about how Sanchez has prevented the superbowl defense from a championship.

    I don't see it.

This defense has had more than its share of sucking since Ryan has been here, and has come up very small in several big spots.

It's been pretty good, and excellent statistically, but since we all know stats
Don't tell the whole story, who cares.

Facts are in the two biggest games in Ryan/sanchez tenure (both afc championship games) they sucked! Blowing a 10 point lead in one, and not showing up for another.

This year again they have sucked in big spots.

Why does Ryan and his defense get a free pass from the fanbase, who has turned on Sanchez so quickly?

    Championship defense????

    I don't think so!

If you keep reading that the Jets have a championship caliber defense, I don't know what you're reading.

    Right here on these forums....

I keep reading how any other QB and this team would win a SB with this defense.

In 2009 yes we would have won a superbowl with a better quarterback. Last year Sanchez was the reason we made it to the AFC Championship game. This year they both suck.

Our defense would look a lot better if they werent on the field for 90% of the game due to constant 3 and outs

This is a team sport. No, this defense ain't the 00 Ravens, but it shouldn't have to be. All we want is for this offense to bail out the defense once in a while when they have a shitty game. Our D keeps us in games, our O does jack shit.

It can't be disputed that the Offense is this team's Achilles' heel.

    ?

Last year our defense shut down Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. We barely beat the Colts, only scoring 17.

The Patriots game our entire team showed up.

Our defense shut down Pittsburgh in the second half, and not to mention they scored because of a Sanchez fumble.

The Jets had the ball for over 36 minutes on Saturday. The Jets over TOP this season is one of the best in the NFL. This is BS argument on your part. Try again?

That would make sense if it weren't completely false. The Jets are 9th in time of possession this year.

Which wasn't a fumble and came on a play that should never have been called. You cannot seriously contend that the Jets defense failed to show up for the first half of the Pittsburgh game and failed to get a stop at the end when it was really needed.

I believe Our D holds opposing QBs to the fith lowest rating in the league.
They've come up short in some big spots ... but this is a league where EVERY rule is designed to help the offense move the ball and score points. They may not be great ... but certainly good enough to win a championship.

all you have to know is this - We had three games this season where the opposing QB completed 10 passes or less ... and we lost all three!! I seriously wonder how many times in recent NFL history that has happened. I'm thinking maybe never.

Our defense is not the problem.

I don't see how you can say the Jets would have won the Super Bowl in 2009 with a better QB; the Jets got to the AFC Championship game anyways, and Sanchez is not the reason they lost that game (in fact, the defense is).

Yeah I don't buy into the whole, "Sanchez prevented the Jets from winning the Superbowl" nonsense. Would we have had a better chance with an elite QB( Brady, Manning, Big Ben, Brees, Rodgers)? Well yeah, thats why they're elite. It's like saying a Ferrari has a better chance of winning a race than a Ford. I think most Qbs in the league would not have made any difference or would have been worse than Sanchez. Have you seen Phillip Rivers in the Playoffs?

The whole team didn't show up in the first half, particularly the defense which couldn't tackle anything. Its not like Sanchez threw three interceptions or anything, he played like the average QB that he is. Average QBs can win Superbowls.

How would we have played the Vikings in the SB exactly? Was their outcome dependent on ours?

Umm did you watch the Vikings-Saints game? Vikings dominated them, yet the Saints squeeked out that win. I think if the Vikings saw the Jets as their Super Bowl opponent, I think they woulda been even more motivated.

Plus if that game was played 10 times, the Vikings would have won 9 of em. Its just so happened they choked very hard in that 1 game.

Bingo!!!! The truth hurts. Schotty has to go!!!! Get rid of that bum. Give Sanchez more time with an intelligent OC that knows how to call a game. While you are at it fix the right side of that O Line. Get a deep threat receiver. Get a Safety that can stay healthy, get another RB to help out number 23 and get another LB that can cover the TE's in this league. Tanny you have a lot of work to do. Get at it.

NO, we wouldn't have. Dwight fucking Lowery got toyed around by Peyton Manning. Our D fell asleep in the second half of that AFCCG.
