Sign this beast... If healthy and cheap EDIT: Official statement by Braylon says he needs offseason to rehab injury
Why would we want Edwards? (1) He can't contribute on ST (2) He's got bad knees (3) He's got several disciplinary strikes against him (4) He's a prima donna - Should I start bumping threads? (5) He averaged about 3 receptions per game for us. (6) Who do you cut to make room for him? Plax? Is that an upgrade? Plax has already scored more TDs than Edwards did in his best season. (7) Our red zone efficiency is better with Plax (8) His prior release indicates that we didn't think much of him last offseason - what has Edwards demonstrated to show that we made a huge mistake? Nothing. If this draft is really deep at WR, let's draft a potential stud WR1. Signing Edwards is a step backwards and gives us the false sense of security that we are set at the position.
Because he has only 15 catches and 0 touchdowns all year. Man, I am actually REALLY excited about possibly getting Braylon back.
I would love to have Braylon back he is a deep threat and managed to get some separation from the d and he was always making big plays last year.
Signing Edwards is a step backwards? I guess I missed our receivers burning everyone deep this year. Plax was nice in the redzone, but did not provide the deep threat that Braylon did. I'm sure we could afford to lose a guy like Patrick Turner to bring in Braylon. I don't think it's wise to rely on someone being available in the draft to fill a hole. I'd rather see as many holes filled prior to the draft and take the BPA to hope to upgrade.
He will probably come cheap, he's a deep threat, he can block, and we don't necessary have to get rid of Plax. You are correct in pointing out that he has injury issues, and douchebag issues. Which is why he will be cheap, which will allow us to spend money on other positions. If we go cheaper at WR, hopefully we could get back to being a run first football team instead of this bullshit where Sanchez drops back to pass 65 times a game. I wouldn't mind signing another WR, but I would hate for the Jets to invest too much into WR's when the oline and defense should be the focus of the off season in my opinion. Not shocked by the release, his production has been poor this season and plagued by injuries. I don't think we should sign him as much as he was that deep threat for us last season hes getting older and this draft is going to be deep at the WR position. I really hope we draft a Michael Floyd or someone of that caliber this draft or maybe even Dwayne Bowe if he becomes a F/A which I doubt.
Sign this beast (if he's healthy and can avoid getting in trouble). He's a great target and can stretch the field something we sorely missed this year. I also think that we should draft a receiver regardless of whether or not we re-sign edwards.
He can move the ball from our 40 to the opponents 20 in one play. Holmes and Plax have failed to accomplish this. (without crying for a flag) Holmes is a pussy. (filler)
Exactly why we need him. Edwards would be the only legitimate deep threat on this offense. I am so sick of this dink and dunk offense where the receivers get blanketed every play.
1) cant block 2) gets knocked over in his route 3) fumbles the ball 4) garbage production (has he had a 100yd game for us?) Please trade this goon. Edwards, Plax and Kerley would be nice. Not to mention Plax and Edwards lay killer blocks. Holmes should be decent trade bait.
I already said it in the other thread... but I'll say it here too. The Jets won't get him anyway so settle yourselves. Some other team will take him before he reaches the Jets on the list.
He is a goon, but he's a very talented goon. He is especially dangerous with a guy like Edwards on the field with him.
We need Braylon back because we lack any vertical offense. We infact suck on the vertical game. Schotty is to blame for turning Sanchez into a pussy
