No team in the NFL has the money to keep Mark Sanchez (#6 overall pick money) and Peyton Manning. Unless of course we were to completely gut the rest of our team and have nothing but scrubs.

Not to mention, what do you think the Jets would have to give up to get Peyton Manning? Its going to be a lot more than some draft picks.

If Mr Johnson wants to win NOW with the team he's already assembled and paid for (D'Brick, Mangold, Keller, Tone, Revis, Cro, Harris,....) then he may, just may, pull the trigger on Manning.

Swapping Shotty for a new OC to see if Dirty can figure out how to play fb over the next few seasons while your star players get older by the day may not be the way we go.

    Johnson MAY:

    Manning
    Right Tackle
    Pass Rusher
    Fast Wide Receiver

Win the rings in 2012, THEN start over.

Whether Dirty rides the pine for 2 yrs or get cut outright in this situation is unknown, but to say we'd NEVER bring Manning in is just stupid.

They had the team to do this..... and tried it 3 years ago.

This team is going to need to start a minor rebuild. The talent isn't as strong anymore.

A QB coming off multiple neck surgeries isn't the answer.

If Manning is healthy next year it would be a HUGE boost for the Jesters. I actually think he will be. HUGE.

I also think the Jets D is not nearly as good as some here think

I may be wrong on this, but I don't think the Colts will be able to trade Manning prior to the new league year. That means they'd be stuck with his $28 million roster bonus if they waited to trade him.

If they decide they want to get rid of him it may end up that they have to cut him to avoid that roster bonus. If that happens, my guess is that Peyton will be looking for his best shot at winning a championship as priority number one over money.

I could see him accepting a smaller contract from a team like the Jets who have a lot more talent than the Colts. The Jets could potentially keep both Manning and Sanchez in a scenario like that.

I think Sanchez can be very good for us, but if we could keep him and bring on Peyton for a couple of years we'd probably actually be a superbowl favorite. Wouldn't mind Sanchez having the opportunity to learn behind that guy at all.

The Jets defense is not great, but it's far better than what the Colts have.

If Manning is there and Tanny does not get him, he should get fired the minute he signs with someone else.

The Jets badly need a qb, they are a team in win now mode, and this is the guy that will get us several rings (while adding to his GOAT legacy).

Anyone who says this thread is stupid is a fucking retard, or related to Mark Sanchez, no other explanation. Manning being available is a real possibility, and if you dont want to get him over what he did 15 years ago, or because you want to give Sanchez a chance, you simply have no interest in ever winning, and you should stop telling others to not create threads like this.

A pro-bowl QB getting cut in his prime is virtually UNHEARD OF in the NFL. A lot of stars had to fall into the right orbit for this to even happen. Colts still have to finish last and take Andrew Luck.

There are at least 20 teams in the NFL right now that would KILL THEIR GRANDMOTHERS to have Manning under center.

And if the Colts DO cut Manning to save $28M and Manning goes where he wants, he MAY want to go to a team with a good defense and a great Coach with a Super Adviser named Moore.

Too bad Tanny didn't save like $15M in cap space for 2012. Oh wait, he did.

edit: I bet the odds of having Manning under center for the Jets in 2012 is better than making the fucking playoffs in 2011.

The Colts are 2-13 without this man and would be at least 10-5 with him. To say we are not just a qb away ignores how great he is.

If you sign Manning, get him a RT, then draft WR, OLB/DE, S, TE, this team is winning the SB next year.

    Well stated.

We have an owner who loves big time qb's, and cant love what he has seen out of Sanchez. We have Manning's former OC, who I am sure would do the job again if Manning wanted. We have cap room. We have a defense that with a few tweaks can be great again. We have a solid O-line which with a new RT can be great again. We have Holmes. We have Keller (who Manning can make great). We have LT. We have Greene.

We have a team built to win that just needs Peyton Manning to finish the job.

And of all the other teams, who offers a better chance for him to win 2-3 more rings?

Of the good teams, the Pats, Steelers, Texans, Giants, Cowboys, Packers, Lions, Falcons and Saints have qb's.

The Ravens are not getting Manning. The Chargers wont get rid of Rivers. The Bengals like Dalton. The Eagles love Vick. The Bears have Cutler.

So, it really comes down to us and San Fran as the teams that have good defenses, that are ready to win, and that Manning can win with. However, San Fran has never been rumored to be after a qb and if they win this year, Alex Smith is going nowhere.

Better fix the O-line if you want Manning. Coming off neck surgery, I don't think he could last 1 quarter with Wayne Hunter as his right tackle.

Hey guys, I think we screwed up when McNabb cleared waivers...and i have never ever been a McNabb backer but with games with the Eagles and Giants infront of us and with the way sanchez was playing....wouldnt it have been wise to sign him for the league minimum......i mean come on, Brunnel....christ all mighty Mcnabb faced Giants and eagles his whole career.....the pHILLY GAME WOULDNT HAVE MATTERED MUCH, IT WAS WAY OUT OF HAND EARLY, BUT THE GIANTS GAME........MAYBE

2 neck surgeries, 37 years old and over a year without throwing a pass in the NFL is hardly "his prime".

The guy is in his mid-thirties and has a busted neck.

Besides with our offensive line he would be on stretcher or cart before halftime of game 1.

Ya his offensive line the 1st 5 years in Indy was surely better. Manning with a broken arm would play better then Sanchez.

We get it. You hate Mark Sanchez...... and still think Manning's the best.

come up with something else, or at least least some realistic objective / factual support, or give it a rest.

Peyton Manning rarely gets sacked because he usually has a very good idea of what the defense is doing and makes the appropriate adjustments at the LOS. He also has a very quick release and makes quick decisions.

The Colts have given up more sacks in 15 games this year than they did in 2010 and 2009 combined.

    2011: 32 (through 15 games)
    2010: 16
    2009: 13

And what would it do? Same shit all over again. This team will not win a SB until they fire Schottenheimer. And fix the O-Line
