Absolutely, but nothing that can't be fixed with a little time to throw and an OC that has a clue ....
This is a fair point. Outside of the top guys the QB play in the NFL really is a pile of shit. What makes Sanchez such a shame is that the Jets wasted a top 5 pick for production that they could be getting out of some 6th round or UDFA.
Sanchez. 27th out of 32 in completion percentage. 24th out of 32 in Yards per attempt. 22nd out of 32 in yards per game. 8th out of 32 in Touchdowns, Tied for the 9th highest Interception total. Tied for the 7th highest sack rate (not fully his fault). 15th in the league in pass attempts. 17th in the league in passes completed. Tied for 4th in the highest number of Fumbles by a QB. With the sole exception of Touchdowns this year Sanchez is a bottom 1/3 of the league QB.
Sanchez gets a pass this year cause the Jets made the playoffs and to the Finals the last two seasons. But pressure on Rex and Tanny will increase if Sanchez doesn't markedly improve his game and the Jet's fail to make the playoffs or just squeak in. Sanchez has to next year get at least into the middle of the pack in QB's and not be in the bottom 1/3 of the league in nearly every category.
Well at least the Jets didn't give up much for him. He's shown flashes but he's a guy who needs everything around him to be near perfect to go well (our WR core and OL really was excellent last year but Sanchez was only a 2nd year guy which is our offense wasn't a top 5 unit)
The problem with Sanchez is that his play has been regressing at an alarming pace. In the biggest game of the year today, he threw five passes which could have easily been intercepted, consistently mishandled the ball, gave up a safety and looked totally lost out there. All this against a very mediocre team. Jets need to suck it up and admit they made a huge mistake by drafting this guy and signing him to a long and lucrative contract. Just look at the shitty teams that could have drafted him, most if not all were in need of a QB. Maybe Tanenbaum got a kickback or something for giving him such a ridiculous contract. Looks like Woody got gamed big time by Tanny.
Not to mention all the game changing pick 6's he threw all year. The fumble today at the goal line was a killer.
That stat means nothing unless then you look at dropped INTS for every other QB and see where he stacks. And also what constitutes a "dropped int." Fault him on his actually picks and deficiencies, not what might of happened.
The announcers said it looked like Mangolds fault on the replay. It looked like Mangold snapped the ball off his inner thigh. I wasn't able to tell from replay.
OK genius what are the other options that won't hold the team back and/or restrict our ability to improve the team? Don't mistake their post for fervent support for Sanchez im just a realist
That's a nonsense stat. If we could eliminate INTs caused by receivers running bad routes, or letting balls bounce off their hands, he'd have less interceptions.
