Noam, I generally agree with your post after this one, although I don't konw about the prediction that Sanchez doesn't get another Jet contract. He doesn't get another one at his current rate of pay, most likely, but no contract? Too early to say. Although you may be right. But I quoted this post for the bolded part. I think this is essentially correct. What we seem to have here is a situation where the fans, to their credit, understand how in deep the franchise is with Sanchez. Trading up for a Qb like they did, spending these three years and almost certainly at least next year, it would take an awful lot to go another route at Qb in the near future. There are many other needs on the team. And it would take time getting another rookie Qb up to speed. Life is short, after all. Also in fairness add that the Jets did in fact make it to the Champ Game the last two years. But it should also be clear by now to anyone unafraid to face the facts that everything else has to be perfect for Sanchez to succeed. And it is unrealistic to expect this. The other thing, totally relevant to the constant drumbeat of Schotty Hatred, is that many fans refuse to acknowledge that Schotty is not the problem here. They go back and forth criticizing Schotty. First he's too "cute", then he doesn't stick with the running play, he's too complicated and then he's too predictable. One week it's how come he hasn't been throwing more screens, then it is how come he threw one on first down? Another frequent complaint is how come they don't use Sanchez more rolling out. As you point out, we have to concede Sanchez is more effective doing that. But you can't run a whole NFL passing attack, over time, rolling out the Qb everytime you want to pass it. In fact considering the limitations he has to deal with, and the need as best he can to get the other team off balance, Schotty does a rather good job overall. The Sanchez Fans, including those who are afraid to acknowledge the consequences of a failure here, refuse to even consider that. I also agree that the one area Schotty CAN be criticized is for his role in the lack of overall development of the Qb. I would merely add he shares that responsibility with Ryan, Callahan and Cavanaugh. Might as well throw Tanny in there, too.
Comparable does not equal better. You said Young and Burleson are better than Holmes, which is indeed laughable. Terrible decisions usually lead to terrible INTs. In his last 650 attempts, he sports a 2.2 INT%. And the bulk of those INTs came with a broken index finger on his throwing hand. It drops to 1.2%(6 INTs/500 ATTs) outside of those splint/glove games. His decision making has improved dramatically from his rookie season and is far from terrible. Or maybe he's just lucky. Stafford does need to improve his intermediate and deep accuracy. It's improving and his ball placement is much better, but nowhere near elite. If you didn't know, this is also his third season and first with extensive playing time. He's 23, still needs refinement and is probably going to reach 4600+ yards and 35+ TDs. Do you have any idea how rare that is to accomplish in the same season? I don't know how good he'll turn out or if he can sustain it, but it's far from "just CJ". BTW, there's a couple of recent HOF QBs that are in the HOF primarily because of the work they did with elite playmakers. Contrary to popular opinion, you don't need to excel with JAGs to be considered an elite QB.
You have to understand some of hte criticism of Stafford here is by posters who were not aware Stafford played with a broken finger for a stretch there. I know, he could hardly hold the ball. Of course his INT's went up. Duh.
I never said that Holmes is a top 10 receiver, but that doesn't mean that he's not way better than Burleson. Burleson has gone over 800 yards twice in his 9 year career. Holmes has been below 800 yards once ever. Give me a break. You're entitled to your opinion, but I get the feeling that you haven't watched many Lions games when Stafford is healthy (which is, to be sure, a major drawback to the guy.) He's been significantly better than Sanchez this year.
Stafford is kicking ass his only problem is all the injuries If we had gotten him, he would be out of the season based on what wayne hunter has been playing

Finally something About Sanchez i like Mmmmmm... http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=cxEujZdBORs&feature=endscreen
Santonio has only been over 1000 yards once in his career. He's not better than your run-of-the-mill #2 receiver until he proves it. You act as if Santonio has done so much that it warrants laughter to compare him to a player with similar stats. He's hasn't. He had 1 good season over 1k yards, which the same can be said for Burleson. I ask what has Santonio done to warrant such praise. Kindly answer the question. What makes you say that? I've seen at least 8 full Lions games and a portion of some others. What I see in Stafford is a guy who relies heavily on a single target, and should this target ever be taken away, would descend into nothingness. There's no doubt he has been better than Sanchez this season, but there is a blatantly obvious reason for that, and it's 6'5 235 pounds and runs a 4.3 40. That's my entire point. Don't over sale Stafford based off the fact that he can get the ball to Calvin Johnson, and don't get fooled into thinking that he'd be that good on this team with these weapons. People oversold Culpepper and Garcia. It's clear why they had success, and I'm seeing the same thing done with Stafford. He's not a plug and win type player. He's a gunslinger with arguably the NFL's best receiver(an absolute monstrosity), but I'm not ready to elevate him to the group of QBs who can elevate an offense without a top 5 target. Beyond the stats, I don't see him having command of the line of scrimmage, I don't see him having good accuracy and I constantly see him making outrageously dumb decisions. To put it short, Sanchez is Stafford without Calvin, and Stafford is Sanchez with Calvin. I would prefer to have Stafford only if he came with Calvin. What can Stafford possibly due with this offense that Sanchez can't?
I posted this in another thread. Thought I'd post it here also. Give the guy some slack if he has a bad game. I can see how his mind can wonder. [/IMG] One More [/IMG]
26.8%, 23.7% and 22.4%; percentage of total targets. Jimmy Graham, Wes Welker and Calvin Johnson; which one is which?
Other than Sports Nation, I don't really watch ESPN, but this morning a friend of mine said that yesterday they were saying that "sources" are saying that if the Jets don't make the playoffs, Sanchez will NOT be the Jets QB next year.
People knock Sanchez even though his numbers have gotten better every year since he came in the league. He already has something like 23 TD's passing and like 3 rushing with 2 more games to go. I'm not saying he'll ever be Tom brady but I'll take his numbers at the moment considering the o-line has been very inconsistent this year and the lack of a vertical threat. Also the first 4 games of the season Sanchez threw for 300+ yards a couple of times and we only lost to the raiders because our defense couldn't stop the run period. We should let Sanchez throw more like we did in the first few games this season.
No doubt the OL has been inconsistent, but overall it is not a crappy OL. People around here are spoiled from the past success and performance of the OL. But most teams do not have a Pro Bowler on the line. While Ferguson is having a rough year compared to previous years, he is a former Pro Bowler. It's true that Mangold, likely making the Pro Bowl again, was out, and then was coming back. But he's mostly had a very good year. Slauson is better than last year. Moore was dinged earlier, but has been overall playing well. Even Hunter, the worst starter on the team, has not been as bad as many paint him. He's ranked in the bottom third of starting RT's, but not by much, and probably has nearly ten RT's rated worse. Well, maybe 8, but not much separates him from those in the middle. The implication of using the OL as an excuse for Sanchez is that the OL is, compared to the rest of the league, mediocre. That is incorrect. Just because it is not the best or even top five does not mean that it sucks. The OL does not suck.
One day... ONE FREAKING DAY... I hope my Jets could have a top 5 Elite QB in this league or someone on the same planet of that discussion...... ONE FREAKING DAY. I'm so sick of making excuses for the likes of Pennington and Sanchez both 1st round picks... Please never again drafta QB in the 1st round unless people descibe his arm as "HOLY SHIT THAT GUY HAS A RIFLE" yeah yeah yeah arm strength is overrated... that's what Panzies like Sanchez and Pennington have to believe. ONE DAY..... man, I'm still sick over last week and ready to hurl again Saturday.
I didn't say the O-line sucked I said it was inconsistent at times which is different. For example before this eagles game we gave up like 2 sacks in 4 games but then there's games like the baltimore/eagles game where the o-line looks bad. But theres plenty of talent on the o-line nobody can argue that even wayne is very good at times but given there was no offseason/OTAs the o-line has been pretty decent. I would just really like to see what can happen when Sanchez is given the chance to throw 30+ times because I seen some good things when he did it the first few games of the season. We should have definitely done that against New England when we played them. The biggest Knock that I have on Sanchez is at times he can look a little shaky in the pocket and sometimes he'll throw too hard on those short passes. Another thing is I would like to see more complex offensive plays, I'm tired of these 3 step drop/throw it 3 yards to your first receiver. I'd like to see him read the progression much better instead of staring down at times.
Sanchez has a lot of flaws in his game, but one thing you can't say is that he has a weak arm. He doesn't. BTW, what the hell does this have to do with Kate Upton?
