It's hard to come up with words to describe how bad the current defense looks at times. In 2008 it was still in transition to the current situation.

The offense though is probably more suited to having a replacement QB now as then.

I think also Belichick >> Caldwell for handling something like this.

Here is the complete quote from Yahoo:

“Guys made great runs after the catch [Sunday],” Brady said. “The defense made plays, and we capitalized. People did their jobs. And the Jets lost. All in all, it was a good day for the Patriots.”

    Draw your own conclusion.

if the Jets played the Pats in the playoffs I would bet that we beat them decisively. People act like it's easy to beat a team 3 times in one season.

Can I draw it with charcoal and smudge it around a bit? Or are you just being the typical cliche Patriots fan that comes here to make himself feel better in the face of the worst defense in the league...which happens you be yours?

You know what? Forget I said any of that, it was rhetorical.

Gotta ask, though, when Brady talks about a division rival during a post game presser, a team that has nothing at all to do with the game he just played, or the one he plays next week, does that not seem just a wee bit odd to you?

Are you that much of a shill?

"I hate the Jets" - Tom Brady

Maybe you are trying to minimize an obvious truth? Like a pathetic twerp?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME - There was a month long celebration over at JI, where its still concidered a board holiday. And what about that joke of a poster who still has plenty of Brady pain pictures handy in his computer to post 3 years later. Very CLASSY.

You just might want to rephrase that comment....or perhaps use a "sarcasm smiley"

Aby, its hard to look upon the poor Jets as the "injured party" here, when your coach begs the rest of the league to beat the Pats so he can finally win a division championship.

You are fans of a team that has the most verbose, bragging, in your face players coaches and FO people in the league, and YOU get insulted because Tom Brady once told a local radio program that he "hated the Jets" last year.

WOW! You guys ARE the biggest whiners and crybabies in the league

There really is no need to defend brady. He never said it as far as I can tell.
The only time he has mentioned the Jets since Sunday is the actual quote posted above.

It was a very satisfying day and I think you play a team that's won six straight and you go on the road in a very important game, basically for the course of the season to clinch a division title regardless of what the Jets would have done yesterday.

    EDIT:
Here is the complete quote from Yahoo:

“Guys made great runs after the catch [Sunday],” Brady said. “The defense made plays, and we capitalized. People did their jobs. And the Jets lost. All in all, it was a good day for the Patriots.”

First I've read of this, yet even if this was said, it is nothing like how the OP presented it.

The Jets loss gave the Patriots the division title which I am sure they were enjoying post game.

The Jets loss had EVERYTHING to do with the situation.

I can't believe I need to explain this to you.

If the Patriot's lost, the Jets loss would have mattered. Because NE won, it didn't matter at all. It was a 'win and you're in' situation.

Brady was simply happy the Jets lost as they are a 'hated division rival'.

So no, the Jets loss did not have ANYTHING to do with the situation. Both games were in the late afternoon, and it only required a Patriots win or a Jets loss to get in, NE knew about their victory before they knew about the Jets loss.

I don't count the year they got caught cheating... if it makes you feel better, They're 2-3 in the playoffs and one "Fluke Catch" away from winning the Superbowl in the post SPYGATE era.

I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised that a Patriots fan doesn't have any idea what the word "defend" means, should I?

'There really is no need to defend Brady.'

    Then he defends Brady.

patf, it's hard to look upon Patriots fans... period? All we see is a bunch of half-headed yahoos with the genitals of a 5 year old trying to compensate by attaching their self-worth to the success of a football team, and parading it around the internet as an emblem of pride.

Why would I be insulted if Brady said he hates the Jets? I love it. LOVE IT. Because they are in his head, even when the Pats sweep the Jets.

I really hope New England can get that elusive playoff win, because I want to see the Jets kick Brady's teeth in at Foxboro during the postseason, like they did the last time around.

Now go ahead and brag about your regular season sweep, because I like to see that stuff, when a decade ago Pats fans would kiss their biceps and tell people that the only thing that mattered was championships.

What does last year have to do with this year?

The Pats have already smoked the Jets twice this year.

Gotcha... I just didn't find it to be quite as premeditated or meaningful, that's all. It was a division-clinching weekend, but regardless of that I'm sure Brady likes seeing the Jets lose. No different than any player on the Jets enjoying a Patriots loss.

Maybe, but wouldn't you objectively say that's a mutual thing... at best?

I'd personally say it's not even close to the degree that the Patriots are in Ryan's head, and his players' heads as well. Pretty much everything that's happened in NY since Rex Ryan rolled into town hasn't been about beating the Patriots. I get the idea that NY has been chasing NE for the division for a decade-plus now, so that's somewhat expected, but you can't possibly be saying that it's one-sided, right? I mean, you're a smart guy... did you miss all of these?

    • "I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings."
    • "I think we have to find somebody out there to beat New England besides us, and I think that would help."
    • Rex gets a cameo in a Sandler film as a Patriots fan.

Not seeing a pattern here? I actually like Rex, and think he's a hell of a coach. He's created a rivalry where there really wasn't one before he arrived. I'm sure Brady enjoys beating the Jets a little more than most teams, but at the same time I don't think he loses any sleep over what happens in NY.

Of course it's mutual, although the 2 quotes you mention are direct responses to questions about the Patriots. Tell me, before Brady mentioned the Jets loss, were the Jets mentioned once in that postgame? By a reporter? I doubt it. Seems like he needed to get that little dig in on his own.

As far as the Sandler thing, Adam is a Jets fan and he said on Eisen's podcast that it was his idea to make Rex a Pats fan.

It's not surprising that the Pats are in Rex's head, they have owned the division for a decade.

But I did find it pretty surprising the amount of irritation Brady shows when asked about the Jets, the fact that he came right out and said he hated them, and the recent and unprovoked taunt about them losing... and forget rationalizing it being about clinching the division because as someone already mentioned, the Pats clinched when their game clock hit zero, the Jets loss didn't really factor into it.
