the biggest thing i still continue to see from sanchez is he is shell shocked and scared in the pocket. 3 or 4 times today he threw before the receiver even turned, he did this due to fear and trying to get the ball out quick, a few of these there wasnt even very much pressure.

this year he has been shriveling up in the pocket and just getting the ball out instead of stepping up and getting the ball out at the point it needs to be.

i really hope that this can be fixed because he will not get to the next level if he cannot stop being a scared qb.

I thought this was one of Sackhez's best games. His biggest problem is he moves so poorly in the pocket. Today I saw some improvement. He stepped up at least twice on plays he would normally take needless sacks. He made a couple of good decisions throwing the ball away where he would normally try to force the ball in. While he still carried the ball away from his body like a loaf of bread I did see him make a conscious effort to pull the ball in. He showed some thought which is something we do not normally see from him.

He did force a couple of throws took a couple of sacks that were his fault, and had the fumble. But considering we were playing from behind and playing a team with a great rush it was much better than one could have hoped. The first INT was Holmes fault the second was Sanchez's where he tried to force the ball in. But given the circumtances of the game the 2nd INT mattered little. Sackchez is almost always protected from being exposed to teams with good pass rushs by taking 1-3 step drops, running the ball more than any team, running a lot of max protect formations and simply not passing the ball down-field on 3rd down. Given the situation and playing from behind its surprising he did not do much worse. I think its obvious they really have been working with him on his "deer in the headlights" problem and he while he was not good today he could have done much worse. He was not the problem today. It was a lot of big play mistakes combined with a very bad matchup for our defense. We do very poorly with teams that have speed around the edge and with good TE's. Give McCoy and Vick some credit. They made some plays just as we made some very big mistakes.

This is my main criticism of Sanchez as well. In games like this when he's facing a lot of pressure he gets that scared/lost look on his face and never seems to recover. Not that I put much of the blame on him for this awful loss, but it would have been nice to see him get a little more fired up rather than just looking shellshocked.

He won't stop being a scared QB until he stops having defensive linemen and linebackers getting a straight line run to him with minimal interference.

Both Hunter and Slauson were pitiful today in pass protection. When you have holes on both sides of the line it makes the QB's job almost impossible. If Chad were playing for us he'd have been in a wheelchair by game 4 or 5 at the outside. That Sanchez keeps getting up is the only thing that has kept this from turning into a 4-12 or 5-11 nightmare.

Yeah but he's from California just like Aaron Rodgers so he should be just as good!

You can't fix that, you can't play scared in the Nfl and every Qb gets rushed not just Sanchez, How many times do you see vick and Cutler get smacked and come back up the next play and make a play, never do I see that from sanchez. Dude will not lead us to the superbowl he is average. The only more incosistent Qb in the Nfl is Rex Grossman.

Vick and Cutler have both missed extensive time this season due to injuries

Yes, you can fix that. It's called getting a legitimate RT. He still looks like a young, developing QB sometimes because he is.

hilarious how trolls come up in here and bitch about sanchez when we had chad, ray lucas, vinny t, before him...

i thought sanchez played decent today. i have a problem with the system. it doesn't account much for when plays break down, which was happening too often today. to play in schotty's system you pretty much have to have perfect OL blocking. So when we have less than stellar pass protection this is what happens.

We need better route design and our receivers to run stunts. i think we have the personnell for it, as for the oc..

The INT #2 was on Sanchez. He threw to Holmes even when a defender was draped all over him.

So your saying every single Qb in the Nfl never gets rushed, we have Dbrick, Mangold on our oline stop defending him. Your acting like were the only team in the league who has incompetents on our oline.

Look how Aaron Rodgers played today with a new LG I believe in the game, not very good. I think everyone is saying a bad O-line makes most QB's look bad. The only exception I can think of is Big Ben, but he has so many nagging injuries.

The other problem people have is people basing this game as a reason to bash Sanchez. It would be better to pick a game where we did not give up 40+ points, Tone has two turnovers, both picks were deflected, and the O line was terrible. Did Sanchez not play great? Yes. Was he one of the major problems? No.

Aaron Rodgers looked pretty pitiful today with his best receiver out. He was something like 6 for his first 17 for about 50 yards and a sack in the 1st half. He finished 17 for 35 for 235 yards and a TD.

Great QB's are at least partly a product of the players around them. Take a good one away and they suffer just like everybody else.

The CB jumped the rout which forced the ball up in the air. Pretty easy pick. Sanchez tried forcing it in, but pretty shitty rout by Holmes also. Rewatching the play, the CB knew the slant was coming. Probably should have had check there.

If you think Sanchez was the problem today, you should have your football viewership privileges revoked.

No one else watches the other NFL games.

Show me the QB who is pressured that much who doesn't play like that, and I'll show you a QB who doesn't exist.

After the trade to the Bears (and the dreaded QB Killer Mike Martz) Cutler had to change his throwing mechanics - he's throwing off his back foot mostly (which is a no-no because 1. you are not putting enough mustard on the ball and 2. you are losing a lot of accuracy. It leads to a lot of interceptions) because his OL did not buy him enough time. Are you saying Sanchez should do that too? Then you will bitch about Sanchez throwing too many picks, right?

Seriously, look at Brady.. With constant pressure and even he gets rattled.

Obviously Sanchez isn't Brady but with Wayne Hunter as your RT, I'd be a little scared, too.

Jets fans like QBs that peak in their first year here and then decline every year after. They don't know what to do when a guy improves every year.
