There was no adjustments made for the defense....again. You can't run designed 5 yard plays when you're down four scores.
the offensive line is deplorable - but remember this same thing happened with NE last year and it refocused our team - im hoping it has the same affect - the O-line needs a foot in their asses.
I agree, but the O-line is lacking both talent and depth this year. There really isn't anything that can be done.
My guess is that the debacle that is the Jet's offensive line this season costs Callahan his job. This assuming that he was onboard with the Wayne Hunter trainwreck. He's obviously a big supporter of Slauson and that hasn't worked out all that well either. The Jet's offensive line didn't fall off badly last season because it only had one weakish link at LG and it had Mangold and D'Brick on either side of him to contain the damage. Once you have a leak on both sides you have no line. It may function moderately well from time to time, with occasional really nasty exclamation points when the QB gets whacked, but it's going to get penetrated by a quick front seven and over-powered by a big front seven.
Eagles can get after the QB. Jets can't protect the QB. Eagles have a lot of speed on offense. Jets have no speed on defense. Jets can't cover the tight end. Eagles have a decent tight end and enough other weapons where you can't devote much attention to him.
Regarding #3, kinda hard to stick to the run when you are down by 21 + AND you literally are getting 0 to 2 yards a carry. The first drive was the only drive they had much success running the ball.....
That pretty much covers it. The Jets need talent infusions at RT, LG, TE, ROLB, FS, ILB and possibly LOLB. Then they need more depth on the offensive line and they need a real backup QB who is developmental not fossilized. Hell, they probably need a vet backup and a developmental guy.
The Jets ran the ball 4 times for 33 yards on their first 4 plays of the game. They then passed the ball 6 of the next 7 plays by the end of which they were down 14-0. Can anybody explain the sequence where you rush for more than 8 yards a carry at the start of the game and then suddenly you decide you're going to pass 6 of the next 7 plays? Can this ever possibly be a winning strategy in the NFL? Brian Schottenheimer has fully earned the hatred and disrespect of the people who do not like his ability. I hate him more than I hated Joe Walton when he was OC and that is saying a lot because Spanky used to get me ashtray throwing angry on a regular basis until I stopped drinking.
You mean the Edwards who has been hurt all season and has 14 catches for 172 yards and no TDs???? How would this player have helped the Jets this season?????? Edwards has been a complete and total bust this year. He has missed most the season with an injured knee and has been invisible when he has been in the lineup. How would he have made a difference??? WR is not the problem with the offense. The OL and the OC are the problems.
Can we ship Hunter back to Hawaii? I will personally pick him up from Florham Park and drive him to the airport, and throw him $100 for food. He is god awful. He's gonna get Mark hurt, and almost did on one of Babin's several sacks. The Iggles aren't as bad as you people made them seem, but we made them look like the Pats in 07. The D got pushed around, and couldn't stop a fucking nose bleed. I was willing to give Eric Smith some time, but he fucking blows. Trufant to spy Vick didn't work. Vick made our D his bitch. Tone gifted them 14 fucking points and then has the balls to do that stupid fucking celebration after the TD? That's gotta be on Rex. Stop being a fucking friend to these assholes and tell him to cut the shit. He did the same thing in the 45-3 game last year in NE. Our run game started off good if you ask me. Until Tone sucked the life out of the opening drive with the fumble. The Eagles converted on our turnovers, and we for once, force turnover on the other team, and we can't convert shit. Thanks, Schotty. 10 points in 4 turnovers? Really? Schotty deserves the hate he gets. I can't fault Mark at all in this loss. He's lucky to not be seriously injured. Schotty needs to go to Miami to fuck them, like he has us.
Completely agree. I was so psyched when they came out gashing with Greene on those first 4 plays. I don't understand why they felt the need to start mixing it up before the Eagles even showed a hint of being able to stop the run. If Greene was tired, give Conner or LT a carry. Sure, nobody could have predicted that Holmes would fumble on that play, but why stop running it when they couldn't stop it??
hopefully the giants and their defensive ends dont totally destroy our o line next week. jason babin was a beast today smh.
They're going to destroy us next week if the coaching staff has not figured out how to cover for Hunter. If they have Umeniyora for the game opposite Pierre-Paul the most likely result is Sanchez out for the season in the first quarter.
