It's definitely nice to see the screen game working so well. It's a dimension every offense should have and really helps keep the defense honest.

3 tough pass rushes in a row, with Washington, KC, and Philly. Definitely a good time to get the screen game going, as the article said.

LT being hurt and then out obviously limited options in the screen pass, but while he's probalby not a hundred percent, he's back, and that helps.

so would the focus on more screens against tough pass rushes qualify as Schotty understanding the dstrengths and weaknesses of opponenets and trying to game plan accordingly? Or does this fall in the " well schotty still sucks but teh players are pulling off the screen plays nicely in spite of him" category?

One of main criticisms of Sanchez was that he never got his timing and anticipation down on screen plays, and it ended up killing waaaay too many drives. He looks like he's gotten a LOT more comfortable executing them now.

And the emergence of Greene's short receiving ability has also helped in that effect, and that has been a huge factor recently with our offensive success.

Exactly what I was going to say. Greene has really improved catching the ball out of the backfield and Sanchez needs to get that pass over the crowd without getting it batted down. We have the linemen to get out in front, Mangold was all the way down the field on one play last week.

I'm not sure I've seen enough to call it a bona fide "emergence," since he looked pretty bad just a few games ago, but it's definitely encouraging.

    Really?

So Did Schotty just misunderstand Baltimore? I guess the smart play there was to have Sanchez under center in 5 and 7 step drops...to confuse the Ravens into coming straight up the field.

I would, the guy has looked very comfortable catching the ball in stride and not looking upfield too early, and immediately finds his blockers. His running game may be suspect right now, but for the first time I have no misgivings about his ability as a screen and dump-off man. He has impressed a skeptic.

Actually, Sanchez sitting in the shotgun is about the last thing I want to see this week. If my hunch is correct, Eagles will deploy their DEs at wide 9 all game. Screens and off-tackle should be a good antidote. (As it has been against Eagles D all season long.)

Isn't wide 9 the base D for the Eagles this year? I'm curious as to why you'd call it a hunch that they'd be in there base D?
