It means I am waiting for something from you resembling an actual football argument, that doesn't include box score stats and condescending vagary. If you really know something about football, prove it with debate. The days of verbal sparring in the Jets forum are over. Make your case intelligently, or we will assume you lack intelligence.
I don't feel Scott, THIS SEASON, is doing all these "non-boxscore' things that you are stating. I watch him week in and week out. He comes out on passing downs and gets pushed around alot more then you want to admit. I have admitted already that yes, at his position, part of his responsibilities don't show up in a stat sheet. But that doesn't mean he's playing so well. The Jets defense is overrated. They do well against offensively inept teams, aka Denver till the end, Jacksonville, KC. But any team that can play a little on that side of the ball, the New England's, Dallas, even Miami till that Revis pick that he brought to the house, have moved on the Jets easily. So now looking at the Jets D, the one thing they can do is cover WR's. Revis is a great cover CB, Wilson is much improved. Cromartie is great one week, a joke the next, never know what you're getting their. They can't cover a TE..... They used to let Scott cover TE's and he couldn't. So he can't do that. Their safeties can't do it either. Which leaves us to the run. They've been very average against the run. Very average. NE ran all over them the first game. Bush was average 7 yards a carry vs. them. Mcfadden ran all over them. Now guys like Devito and Pouha are considered very good run players... So I wonder whose been responsible for the medicore run defense? The linebackers. Mainly your guy. And that profootball talk quote was from last season. Scott was fine last season. Till the Steeler game. Since then, his game has gone the other way.
i think his replacement needs to be found and groomed (mr vontaze). but he is by no means a bum. him eating OL allows Harris to do his thing. we all know hes a liability in coverage. I think hed be good at OLB at this stage (in some packages not permanently)to set the edge rushing
Not set an edge but he has resposibilities there.... Seriously, if this isn't a bannable comment, there isn't such a thing as one.... That's it, make it personal. You misunderstood my comment so throw the F word at me,,, real nice. That's the problem, always a guy like this guy.
Your posts just get more and more pathetic. YOU are very, very obviously the one who knows nothing about the topic at hand. Just because you play Madden doesn't mean you know football, or the Jets, or Bart Scott, or anything. Because you don't. ,,,,,,,deal with it,,,,,
Oh so you're going exactly against what you said because you know you are wrong and then whine that you want me banned because you have no idea what you are talking about? Notice how no one agrees with you. Maybe thats when you should stop talking about something you obviously know nothing about.
Plenty agree with me... Read any Scott thread in the past, most get it... Just tired of guys like you throwing the insults. I'm not going against anything, Mcfadden ran all over them and Scott was at fault as much as anyone...HE F-IN EVEN SAID IT AFTER THE GAME,, HOLY SH-T.
No, the problem is that when it comes to Jets fans, there's always a guy like you. Someone who doesn't know what the hell they're talking about and just wants to bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch about everything they think they think. But as usual, you are wrong. Go fire up the Madden and enlighten us all about what a football genius you are. I'd like to hear more about how the Dolphins destroyed the Jets defense when they scored a whopping 6 points.
Nah, not most... Couple followers in this thread... Read any other thread concerning Scott, most people get it.
That's not true. Mike Francesa agrees with him, and he makes over a million dollars a year, so he absolutely is correct... didn't you read 28martin's posts about how Francesa and Craig Carton are the foremost football authorities in town?
So David Harris is so great but he gets a pass for the 2 games you mention where our entire D blew it. No one is claiming he's never had a subpar game. We are saying he is much much better then you make him out to be.
You have no idea how much I despise a no nothing like yourself making any comment like that, to someone who knows ten times more then you do... But you keep believing you know something, I won't tell anyone. And for the last time, not a big Madden guy,,, but you keep saying that cause somehow that makes you feel better.
And you don't know how much someone like you makes me shake my head in disgust that you root for the same team as I do. Someone who knows nothing, can't spell, can't form an argument, and who hides behind some vague, obviously fake "extensive" football background, yet doesn't understand some things don't show up in stats sheed. Just because you are older, which I assume you are, doesn't mean you know anything more than someone like me.. and by someone like me, I mean someone who understands football, knows what's going on, etc. All qualities you don't seem to possess.
That's a far cry from 'BART SCOTT STINKS', thanks for the effort. I know his game has fallen off, probably due to age, probably due to lingering injuries that a guy like him will never admit to. And he's never been fast, and has never been a cover man. We had to overpay for him because of his knowledge of the system and the culture, and because Rex needed a lead blocker for Harris. And I agree that the D is overrated. Not sure how to quantify it except to say that it seems Rex delegated more of the playcalling to Pettine, and the schemes don't seem to match the looks that teams are giving us a lot of times. Even somee Patriots came out after our second loss to them and said that fir the first time since Rex came to town, they didn't see any looks they hadn't seen before. They knew what was coming, and that's not on the players, although they could do a better job disguising their assignments. Plus, we just don't attack like we did in the first 2 seasons. Or at least it doesn't seem like it, and there's far more zone coverage than I've become accustomed to seeing from this defense. I know what we're getting from Cromartie, and always have, since before we traded for him. A soft and soft-headed underachiever whose head is never all the way in the game, for whatever reason. Exactly what San Diego was getting, aside from his All Pro season in 2007. He has been feeding his family off that one successful season ever since. But he has never been 'great' this season, unless you want to give him the credit that you won't give the defense - playing up against weak competition, i.e. shit QBs. Linebacker and safety coverage has been the D's weakness from day one, but it won't fix itself, we need players that have the speed and instinct for coverage, and the only one we have that can do that is Leonhard, who is out for the season, and his size is an issue. Rex thinks he can coach front 7 players up into that capacity, and maybe he can, but I also think his confidence in his coaching ability up front makes him avoid drafting and trading for top linebacker and safety talent in favor of cornerbacks. That's his Achilles heel. There's far more zone blocking in the league now than there was, at least against the Jets, from what I have seen. That's how you counter a multiple-style defense that incorporates heavy 3-4 fronts or at least heavy 3-down-lineman fronts. Teams know how to gameplan us, and I think Rex will need to do something about that if we make the post season, just like he did something about the D's inability to cover TE's and short outside routes in the 2010 regular season, against Indy and the Pats. I have faith in Rex, although the D shit the bed when it counted in both conference championship games. I'm not even sure what PFT quote you're talking about, but any PFT quote is bound to be covered in a slime of unethical journalism.
You write lots of paragraphs that many people tend to ignore because they don't want to dumb themselves down. Sorry, bud.
He has actually been attacked from the edge, as teams run more zone blocking schemes at our front 7. Zone blocking is designed to move the edge or gaps toward the weaknesses of your trench players.
