This might sound ridiculous but the way the Jets have played in, and I hate the expression, 'revenge' type games--I'd take them in the playoffs against anybody on the road. Would I rather them be home, absolutely, but how honest an outcome was that Jets/Ravens game in week 4. I was there, it was the worst game in any sport I've ever been to in my life but a loss like that is a bullshit fluke. Yeah, the Ravens' defense is pretty damn good but I don't see that type of performance happening again with a healthy Mangold/line in general. I left that stadium thinking the same thing I did after the 45-3 game. 'Please Football Gods, give the Jets a rematch.' Win or lose, I want Baltimore, in Baltimore. I feel like I just wrote the cheesiest shit ever.
The Ravens defense in both games we faced them in the last 2 years have just given Sanchez problems. I know our Defense can handle them because we have but in the end on the road I'd think Baltimore finds a way to pull it out.
I want no part of Baltimore...to put it more aptly Sanchez wants no part of them, ever since that preseason game when sanchez as a rookie looked scared shitless I think they got to his head...it doesn't also help with Rex's history with them they are all fired up...stranger things have happened but I have a hard time believing we win that game though Flacco seemed confused too the last game we played them....
So do we root for NE over DEN? ie to avoid this: NE 12-4 NY 10-6 Den 10-6 Oak 10-6 Balt 13-3 Pitt 13-3 Hou 13-3 Ten 9-7 btw bye is still mathematically possible if Pats lose out
since its highly unlikely to get a Titans loss this week the next best thing would be ... Baltimore getting loss #4 to SD Pitt win vs SF to stay one game ahead Houston getting loss #4 to Carolina if we get those three results, it pretty much gaurantees that Baltimore and Houston will play all out to catch the Steelers in week 17 to get that #1 or #2 seed ... and that might be exactly what we need. I'm hoping for the best against the Eagles and Giants, but willing to live with a split as long as we get what I described above. I really think that will be enough to get us in.
Me too. Flacco was atrocious when we played them this year and we still got spanked. Not saying the Jets are good enough to get through the AFC, but the Ravens are the team I'd like to avoid the most.
Too bad there won't be 30 mph winds inside the RCA dome like there was last year when the 2 teams played.
The more I read and the more I think about it, I don't want any part of the Pats. I'd rather play Hou, then Balt. Even though our D isn't as good as thiers, I think our offense is better. With a properly functioning OLine, I think the game is a battle that the Jets can win. One can wishfully think Denver can beat Pitt at home.
I love how every season around mid-year the analysts/radio guys, etc all say we're going to need 11 wins, forgetting that teams play one another, some fall apart and almost every year someone gets in at 10-6 or 9-7. There was the one year (2008) New England missed out at 11-5 but that happens about every 20 years or so. Couldn't have happened to a nicer group of folks, by the way.
Not sure how this thread went from a wild card race to the JETS already being in the playoffs with talks of possible match ups. In any case, JETS need to win out. I'd prefer the other teams to lose in case we slip up. The 3 remaining games are not for sure wins. We could lose any of those games.
We always seem to have at least one slip-up game late, even in good years, with 1998 being the lone exception. Even then we should have lost at home to Seattle but got away with that one.
Now we are going to choose under which scenarios we want to get into the Super Bowl? Give me a break.
What worries me is that Tennessee and the Bengals have games they should win the next two weeks.... Sunday's game is very very important.
A Bengals loss eliminates them if we win, Titans loss gives us a little breathing room. Indy are due to win one and with Tennessee's QB issues, maybe it's this week. Jacksonville are also playing tough. Would be great to clinch before Miami.
