You're right, he doesn't deserve that. He does deserve to be the leading candidate for the Head Coaching vacancy in Kansas City for the 2012 season!.
Only in NY do teams buy help for coaches who suck. Just like my poor Knicks getting Mike Woodson to "help with the defense". Why not just fire a coach for being terrible? If you have money to spend and you have a hooptie, you don't go get it fixed. You just get a new fucking car!
That makes sense when you're talking about a car. Unfortunately we're talking about football. There is a lot of value in maintaining the same system for your QB and your offense, so it's worth it to try and fix it if possible.
Not when the system runs plays where your options are interception or safety. Not when the system has been under intense scrutiny for years. Especially, not when the system thinks 5 yard curl routes are perfect for 3 and long situations.
Our offense sucked when we had a rookie QB who threw 20 picks to 12 tds. Not much you can do there. Our offense sucked this year when our O line couldn't block anything. You can't just blame the OC for everything. If he was such a problem he would be gone but he's still here and our O is improving so maybe hes not the problem.
Scrutiny by who? You? No one gives a fuck what you or people on this board think. Tanny and Rex have always been high on Schottenheimer.
You still looking only at total stats and not the whole story. That game where they put up 17 on the ravens the offense was only responsible for 3. Conversly the defense only gave up on touchdown that game, the offense 3. Other games our D has let us down when the O played well. more ofthen than not both units are good and bad within the same game. Nither one is amazing. We have been money in the red zone but the problem year long has been gettign there. Early on 3rd down was a hgue problem for us. Of late we are leaning on the runnign game more and more. This has been whats leading the revival. When we run well teams are a bit softer agains tthe pass and the play action works much better. I like what we are doing lately but anyone who's watched everygame down not come away with a feeling that we are a top 5 offense.
we aren't a top 5 O but we have a good O that is getting better. The way people talk you would think this was the '95 Jets offense.

And when you do that, the Jets come in at number 11 in the NFL - just after Atlanta and before Baltimore, Oakland, and SF.
I don't know why you keep bringing this up. I don't think I've ever said we have a top 5 offense. I'll come right out and say I don't believe we do. I've said we're 6th in points scored which is true. Call me crazy, but I think being 6th in points scored is way more important than racking up yards on offense.
Fun stats: The Jets haven't won a game all season where they scored less than 24 points. Every game that the Jets have lost, they've scored 24 or less points.
Points scored is impressive. My discussion with LTJF in another thread highlighted that for me and it does throw a light on what many of us have considered as Schotty's inadequacies and has he just been totemic and a lightning rod for our discontent? Tom Moore's influence could well be crucial It comes down to wins for me though because the team has not been playing in sync across all phases. I long for the day that we win the division and not be trailing our rivals. Jets currently rank 3rd in points in AFC behind New England and Houston. Houston are 3 points ahead and are two wins up. Ranked fourth is San Diego with 3 less points with a crappy record and a "mathematical" chance of making the playoffs. Pittsburgh have minus 45 point differential and have 2 more wins amd likley to make the playoffs A high scoring offense can win games for you and maybe that's where were going. The soccer ethos of Brazil had long been we just need to score one goal more than their opponent but their style of play had that firepower as part of their DNA I would prefer that we get the O and the D synced and bringing their best consistently
The more positive the stats, the more likely Schotty gets some serious consideration for a HC job. Good. Get him out.
Stop trying to make sense! Where have you been?? ... Our QB sucks, our OL can't block anyone, our receivers can't get any seperation, our RBs aren't elite and our TE is the most overrated player at his position. We've REGRESSED!
Granted points per game is one of the most important stats, but no more then wins and losses, obviously. The truth is YPG do matter because that equals 1st downs, something that we have struggled with at times this year. When the team gets 1st downs the defence rests, when the defence is rested it plays better.
