Yeah I'd much rather see them go for a premier receiver like Jackson or Wallace, but I guess it depends on the money. I could see Kerley evolving into a solid #2 receiver down the road, but we'll see. If we can give Plax another cheap 1-2 year deal, we should do it, but no more than 2 years. He's getting old, but his body was resting for 2 years, so you have to understand that he'll have a little longer left than the average 34 year old receiver.
He has been in 7, I know but even when he is playing he is not producing. I am not even sure he is considered a starter with Crabtree healthy. My only point is that he doesn't deserve a contract even equal to the 3 million he got there. He will probably get an incentive laden deal from somebody with a base of whatever a vet contract is worth next year. I would be all for that.
He's certainly shown some flashes as we've gone through the ceiling. Hands were good with some exceptions, wonder if he gave up on some routes but the big thing for me is his body, especially the back, and whether it can sustain him for another few years. If anything, a low annual contract, highly incentive laden.
I agree, if Plax is cheap enough keep him and draft a WR. Kerley will never be a #2 receiver on this team, we need size opposite Holmes and Kerley is short. Not saying he can't develop into a great slot guy though because he has shown promise. I also wouldn't call Desean Jackson premier receiver, in fact I think he is overrated hot garbage. He's just fast, but the dude disappears all the time and is a locker cancer. I would love Mike Wallace though, if the Steelers don't resign him which imo is unlikely. Braylon would be a good fit here as would Colston.
the Jets need stability at receiver and can't go into every season with a new corps. on that basis alone they need to bring Plax back.
Plax, over the past few weeks, has impressed me. It's like he is returning to form. So much so that teams cannot devote double coverage to Holmes anymore. He may be a turd of a human being, but he compliments Santonio well, he is a keeper at the moment, especially with a healthy Kerley in the slot. Schotty needs to go, though. We need someone who knows how to use these weapons. I would say re-sign Plax for a comfy 2 year deal.
Just love the fact that you thought enough about me to bring my name up. Good to see that some things never change!
How else would I make you start posting here again? You are nothing if not malleable. People here like you, even if I don't. Anything for the benefit of TGG.
It's funny how I take 3 days off from the site and you label me a "defector." It takes big balls to insult someone when you think they've left. Funny how you waited until the coast was clear to do so. Go back to you pathetic, angry little man routine. It was entertaining for so long, and we could use a laugh around here. Off to a neighbor's Christmas party, so I'm quitting the board....... for the next 10 hours.
Yes, and I am off to my company Xmas bash. You seem to be spoiling for a fight that you have avoided, smartly, for a couple of years. I am not really interested in destroying you again, so maybe you are barking up a tree you cannot climb. But enjoy your party, at least until you notice the salacious looks your wife is giving to the neighbor's teenage son. Happy holidays.
Plax is going to the highest bidder and rightfully so. I think the Jets draft their deep threat this year and get a veteran stop gap for one to two years. So you end up with Holmes and veteran WR (I'd like Braylon back) flanking the two sides, and Kerley in the slot with your draft pick waiting and being groomed for Braylon's spot.
As much as I didn't want to lose Braylon and I'd love to have him back, I just don't think that's happening. I think the Jets are better off pursuing a similar player in the draft, someone with straight line speed and a big(ish) frame.
This.. I +1 to all of this. Although, I wouldn't want Welker, because of all the nasty shit I have said about him. D Jackson is sort of a pussy, and a head case if you ask me, but he is a deep thread. I'd take Wallace. Then again, I'd go for Bray!
I love Plax but we need a deep threat. If you watch highlights of Braylon and Santonio last year they made big plays down the field. His legs just arent there anymore. I would love to see Bray back. He can do just as good in the redzone.
I lol'd. If Plax gets a chance to get piad for 3 or 4 years else where he has to take it. If we can sign him to a 2-3 year extension that back loads some cash so cutting him before year three is a possibility we need to. The guy is money in the red zone.
Pure brilliance. I'm sure that it took you a while to come up with what you consider new and decent material. The Abyzmul "I'm a pathetic soul, everyone look at me trying to be tough on the interwebz" tour continues, 2011. Once a dick, always a dick.
