    I haven't seen a thread yet...sorry if there was...

Now, with the body of work we've seen...do we re-sign this guy to a mid-level contract...say 3-4 years?

I would say yes...and I think he would do it. If for nothing that the Jets were the one team that stuck by him and did give him a shot to get back into the league. I am thinking he's got 3 good years left considering his brief "vacation".

    Thoughts?

Mezz, he's 34. He'll be almost 40 when that contract ends. It can't be 3-4 years.

He gets an extra year. Hopefully just a tender, or another fully guaranteed contract.

Yeah, f that noise. 3-4 years or more and I want a megatron type wideout. To be totally honest, there have been flashes; namely that sideline catch against Buffalo, but I think people have made too much of what this guy has actually meant to the team. I don't hate him but let's say I'm not gonna get teary eyed if it was a one and done. I know all the circumstances and how he wouldn't have been so cheap as a re-sign but I'd kill to have Braylon back

Yea I'd give him another year maybe but he's not the future of the position by any means.

Depends how were gonna use em and how much $ were gonna pay em.

I have no problem signing this guy for 3 years if hes gonna be taking the vet min, and only used sparingly (ie using him exactly how we use LT).

I mean if we signed a guy like Braylon, then just used Plax on 3rd and shorts + the redzone (Plax/Bray outside, Holmes inside) im cool with that.

But Plax doing anything close to what he does now, and hes not gonna last 2 years.

Nah i think we move on. If we do re-sign, it should be no more then one year.

I'd like to see him back next year. After that, depending on his condition/performance just take it a year at a time IMO.

He's been a good target in the endzone, he's made some nice catches, and he may still have some room to go since he's just getting back into the NFL, but as others have pointed out he's getting old so I really don't see signing him for a multi-year deal.

FAs Next Year are RIDICULOUSLY deep:

Dwayne Bowe (meh, talented but not a guy I want on my team)
Marques Colston (love him, but he's a possession guy and we need a deep threat)
Pierre Garcon (could work as a deep threat, he's pretty explosive)
Brandon Lloyd (I think we may have a winner)
Desean Jackson (cancerous personality, overrated WR)
    Stevie Johnson (love this guy)
Vincent Jackson (not a huge fan of him, but he would fit our needs perfectly as that deep threat)
    Jordy Nelson (he's a great all-around receiver)
    Mike Wallace (the ideal fit)
Wes Welker (would never come here)
Reggie Wayne (I think he'd be similar to resigning Plax, but I think he's better.)

Now, the question: do we have the money to sign one of these guys? I'd rank them, for our needs:

    1. Mike Wallace
    2. Brandon Lloyd
    3. Vincent Jackson
    4. Reggie Wayne
    5. Jordy Nelson
    6. Stevie Johnson

Good point, although I think Lloyd has about 5 good years left. WRs can stay productive through their mid 30s.

Wayne would have to be a short signing, too.

You'd have to weigh whether Wayne and Lloyd are better enough than Plax to sacrifice the chemistry that Plax is developing with Sanchez. I think they both are, and not only that, fit our team much better.

Or we could resign Braylon and Cotchery.

Don't forget the draft class is ridiculously deep at WR.

Isnt Braylon also an FA next year? I for one would be very happy to bring him back and his year in SF is not going to have teams beating down his door unless he explodes in the playoffs.

Theres probably a reason you didn't see a thread. At best he'll be re-signed for 2 years most likely for one. He can still play but he's mostly just a rz threat at thus point.

Yes but he has been complete shit this year (14 receptions for 172 yards). One of those two should get a one year trial.

Yes. 2 years, 5 mil guaranteed.

Add DeSean Jackson for deep threat.

Plax isn't the most dynamic WR that will be available, but to we really want MS trying to build chemistry with yet ANOTHER receiver???? I don't. I demand continuity this off-season and into next season at WR position..

Yeah the jets are in a tough spot now with wr. Plax has improved throughout the year and it seems him and mark are still building chemistry with each other. Everyone is frustrated with the offense and needing to go through another 6 weeks of growing pains with a new wr next year isn't very desireable.

our bigger priority should be drafting a young WR with great potential or finding a younger number 2 to pair with holmes for at least 4-5 yrs

Keep Plax for another year. Sign either Wallace or Desean Jackson. With the Eagles trying to screw over Jackson, we might be able to get him for less.

PJ4Ever, you say Welker would never come to NY, but who here honestly thought Ellis would end up on the Patriots?
