Geezus, Sanchez and Andy Dalton. Interchangeable, statistically. We CAN'T have a ginger in the ProBowl. Think of what the Hawaiian sun would do to that complexion.
Crap, forgot our backups were the second and third best QBs in the AFCE and will both probably be voted in instead of Tom/Ben. When are the Jets gonna pony up a first rounder for each one? Maybe we can get the Colts to give us their #1 overall for a more proven NFL QB like Hoyer. Luck isn't a sure thing yet, he hasn't played nearly as many meaningful games as our backups. ...where did the name Matt come from? (Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallet)
wtf are you talking about another poster implied that ponder was abusing the broncos defense, that wasnt the case
I feel like Sanchez making it to the Pro-Bowl would be nothing short of...awkward. Then again so is Flacco or Tebow making it, so why not.
yes it would. When you think about it, the top guys, Brady, Manning, Rivers and Rapist have been there forever. Manning not being around, opens up a spot for an average guy to step into that spot. Hopefully it is Mark, because it will probably do wonders for his confidence.
How is knowing the only reason he got there is because all of the good QB's have withdrawn or are injured good for anyones confidence? "Mark Sanchez, the 7th option pro-bowl quarterback!"
Wow. I am giddy with confidence in this team now. Sanchez might be in the Probowl and Shottie might get a head coach job in Jax. This should be "National Blind Squirrels" week.
Guarantee if he made the Pro Bowl people would use that to defend him for the rest of his career. "It's only his 4th year and he already made one Pro Bowl and carried the entire team on his back to two AFC championship games! Eli Manning didn't even make a Pro Bowl until his 5th year!!"
Sanchez throws that to the WR at the top and to the outside it's a first down. Sanchez made a poor decision and the WR stopped short of the sticks. Believe it or not, along with the playcall, the players do need to be aware of where they are. No matter how bad the OC is, he wouldn't tell the #1 WR to stop short of the sticks. He also acts like he is under pressure. If he slides up and to the right he has an hour to throw. I understand your point, but you picked an awful example. Edit: Actually, thats quite embarrassing for the Pats defenders, many are running deep and not even playing the 1st down marker, and Sanchez makes the throw to the only guy doubled, who is also behind the marker.
That is 5 receivers running the EXACT same route short of the sticks. The Safeties have no deep threat to worry about and they are able to sit on the pass because its empty set. If you actually look to the top of the screen where you say he should have gone that is 3 DBs covering two receivers, ready to jump the routes once Sanchez's eyes move towards them. Nothing but a PERFECT throw would result in a catch up top, more likely the pass would be picked off or incomplete. Down below you again see patriot defensders just sitting on the first-down marker ready to tackle Mcknight short of the sticks. Mark MAY have had a better chance if he threw it to Kerely but who's to say Ihedigbo doesn't react and cut the route, god knows he has enough coverage help to jump the route, if anything Kerely would have ALSO been tackled short. Mark threw it to the only guy who was a sure completion. It was just a straight garbage playcall against the worst pass defense in football. One deep route could have pulled the safeties off the top and given Holmes and/or Burress single coverage but Schotty is an idiot.
McCourty and whoever was at the top of the screen went deep, Sanchez throws the ball to the sideline and he has a first down, defenders would not have been able to jump on the ball that quick. Its Mark's job to read the coverage and find the open receiver, he threw it to possibly the worst WR.
i definitely see Tebow making it - i mean hell, Romo made it his first year starting in the league with like 8 games under his belt
You're telling me Burress would have been able to beat a corner to the sideline and make the catch? Hes SLOW. It looks like he gives up on the route before Sanchez throws the ball. Watching it on loop makes that look a lot simpler than it is, you have to understand that both corners relent a bit because of Sanchez's eyes, as soon as he turns towards them they would rush the flight of the ball and probably break up the pass. Sanchez probably saw the 3 on 2 coverage and did not want to risk it, rightfully so.
I just want to point out that I've never disagreed that Schotty is a bad OC, but the example play you used is makeable. Both outside corners were way out of position and if Sanchez properly read that he had two open receivers (25, McKnight I believe?) also had a chance at a sideline catch. Instead he threw to one of the receivers farthest away from the first down in the tightest coverage.
Oh, I meant if he threw to McKnight he might have had a better chance, but thats a lot of stuff that has to go right to get that first down. Schotty should not require a perfect throw/read and a broken tackle to get a first down, he should draw up a play the opens up the receiver. Plus, 5 guys running the same shallow hook route? Stupid Stupid Stupid
Please. Both suck so much in the first 3 quarters, it gives them more 4th quarter opportunities. Tebow does it w/a shit team around him. If the Bengals make a late season run, Dalton is in the running. rivers will probably make a late run as well.
I'm not really sure if I'd categorize the Bronco's defense as "shit". Note: I could give a fuck about the Broncos, so I only watch the highlights, so I'm not basing this off of full game coverage. Also, I should probably contribute to the conversation more: I think Tebow, unfortunately, is definitely making it. Considering the fan vote and Tebow mania, combined with the league wide hatred for Mark Sanchez, I don't think there's any way Mark makes it over Tebow.
If you watch the Jets offense, it is not all on Sanchez why they play poorly at times. The Broncos literally are all Tebow on offense and he is terrible.
