Aso has been a bust. Love that big mouth saying he signed with Philly cause they had a better chance of going to the SB blowing up in his face.

Things would've been so different if the Jets just aggresively went for Joseph. He's really good & would've commanded less that Aso. Jets got screwed badly letting Aso string them along for so long. Should've given him a deadline much sooner.

We do need some 3 down LB's; Scott not being able to be used on passing downs allows the offense to pick us apart

Of course. They desperately need either a LB or safety that can't cover a TE.

This is not correct. Bart Scott's 2012 salary of 4,200,000 is new money and it is guarenteed. When Scott restructured his contract pre season this year as part of the restructure he received a guarentee on next year's salary. Bart Scott will be a New York Jet in 2012.

I don't get all the Bart Scott hate. The Jets still have a solid run defense at 3.9 yds per carry averaged. Bart is a key piece of the run defense and is on the field for a majority of run situations. He is off the field in most passing situations. Has he slowed a step? Certainly appears that way but in response Rex has seemed to move him to a situational role in which he performs well. As to price, he seems to be fairly valued this year and next. He will never see the 2013 money on his contract. He will either be restructured or gone. He certainly is far from a major problem.

Shit thread. Scott is a still pretty damn good, he's just not in the scheme for passing downs. Very simple.

If Scott is Pretty Damn good, what is Harris? Dick Butkus? C'mon.

Cynic is right. Bart Scott is good at his role in this defense.

    He's not a coverage linebacker.

scotts job never consisted of putting up numbers...his role has been and still is to occupy blocks. if you are looking to stats to guage scott's worth you are looking in the wrong place.

the guy is not the best LB in the league but he's far from the worst....he does his job in this defense well.

and FWIW, Bart has been very quiet this season vocally....he has not been a walking sound bite.

you're comparing apples to organes...scott's role is vastly different fromt he role of Harris and that of what was Butkus. Same position, but their jobs in their respective schemes are/were not even close to the same.

i notice people jump on you and i'm starting to see why.

i dont have stats but i'm willing to bet Cro is the most inconsistent CB in the league.

Aso has underperformed, but yeah calling him one of the worst is a stretch.

To be fair, Aso is put in a defense that doesn't cater to his strengths, at all.
