Interesting thread. What complicates the primary issue under discussion here, I think, is that with some exceptions, like 85, the sides taken on that issue seem to have a correlation to how critical or not the posters in question are about Sanchez and his performance this season. But that is not necessarily a case of saying that the positions taken on the main issue are not heartfelt. In other words I think those who tend to unquestioningly support Sanchez at this point more than those who are critical of him are also more likely to in general find booing the home team objectionable at any point during or before the game. Me, I think if the fans pay for their seats, and the team has not been playing well, have every right to boo, and I approve of their doing so instead of taking a super homer fan approach of cheering even shitty performances. It seems to me there wasn't any really significant amount of booing, anway, before the game. Maybe a few here and there. There was definitely booing during the game, for Cro's dropped punt return catch, for some of those times Fitzpatrick ran for first downs, for Sanchez and Holmes not being on the same page on that play, and of course for the INT. I think it should be obvious that what pre-game booing there was has to be attributed to the shitting the bed that the fans saw the Jets do in the previous two games, and that particularly concerned Sanchez's pick sixes and overall mediocre to poor play in those games. Hey, he gets the big salary, and is marketed as the face of the franchise. He's usually the first guy after Ryan that they put out there after the post game presser. He's in the ads, and getting paid for it, more than the other players. It comes with the territory. I also tend to agree with CMan's comments, although I think they are a bit overstated.
Alot of you who were there are saying you really didn't hear these boos during pre-game. Who knows, now.
1969 - 2008 - 0 AFC Championships, 0 SB rings 2009-2011 - 0 AFC Championships, 0 SB rings Not so sure about the complete change. Yea, got us to 2 Champ games, but lets get some hardware before we canonize them, ok?
I was there and i heard no pregame booing of sanchez. pregame booing of your own team accomplishes nothing. i did however, hear and participate in, booing after 3 straight 3 and outs to start the game like 17A stated earlier. that shit is pathetic and it deserves booing. we spend good money to watch this team and we expect better than that garbage. and to all of you nancy boys that say, "oh booing is bad. lets never boo. it hurts feelings. mark is fragile." etc, etc, GROW A PAIR. this is ny, we boo everything. people get booed for holding up lines in new york. its the birthplace of booing. i booed a guy once for stinking up the john at work. just like the jets get booed for stinking up the field on offense in the first quarter of every game. and fragile? shit kid you play in the biggest media market in the world. fragile doesnt count as an excuse.
booing before the game, not cool. booing after one more of many bad plays, go ahead. And I'm one of the My Quarterback tgg's fan club. Also, not being fragile and performing clutch after the booing is a big part of why I'd take Sanchez over Freeman or Stafford... it's not the same playing in NY and being expected/demanded to perform at a higher level than Det or TB. Sanchez keeps on proving he can take it and perform in here.
I agree with Leonhard on this one.......you can't be booing your QB BEFORE a huge game even starts. It's fine after those few 3 and outs.....but shit during intros? That's lame.
Maybe Sanchez got booed because this fan base has been waiting to knock off the Pats and win the division and the Jets and their leader with a chance to do just that in the course of 11 days was 44 for 79 and threw 3 INT's and 1 TD and basically played the Jets out of the division and probably out of the playoffs? Maybe the booing worked.
I don't agree with blindly supporting a player. Sanchez is making big $ to be a leader and a productive player on the field. His mastakes and lack of progression are hurting this team, and I for one have no problem with letting him know we're not happy with his play. I was at the game and heard the boos. As a matter of fact I was saying to my dad that I was curious to see if the fans would boo him.I wasn't one of them but i understand the frustration. I'm not a Rex Ryan kinda guy. I believe it calling it like I see it as opposed to blowing smoke up someones ass.
Where fans booing before the Pats game? That's a rhetorical don't answer it. The crowd was totally stoked they cheered wildly they were into the game. In the course of 11 days this team went from legit contenders for the division and a playoff run to a team on the outside looking in. The team and Sanchez stunk it up with all the positive fan reinforcement you could want. He sucked the team sucked and they pulled the plug on our season. The guy gets the booing he deserves along with much of the team and they grit out a win. I never had a boss that was worth a shit give me unconditional love for crappy performance and I don't understand why the fan base has to either. Buck up or crumble.
LMAO! Ftr I thought Buff lost the game more than the Jets won it, but looking at the final score, and comparing it to the previous two weeks, hey, maybe the fans should boo Sanchez all the time!
Buff lost the game? We spotted them 14 of their 24 points! If anything we almost lost the game. Granted, they basically spotted us 7 of 28, but do the math.
And your criticizing? What planet was this post written on? Buffalo lost the game. Steve Johnson was gone,,, game over... Dropped a pass that a High School receiver makes.
