Looks like we're looking for safety help after Sunday's, last week and the week before's abominations of safety play.

Jets waived S Emanuel Cook and promoted S Tracy Wilson from their practice squad.
Cook wasn't getting enough done on special teams, and he was never going to be an asset on defense. Wilson, who was not picked in this summer's supplemental draft, has some upside as a free safety prospect. Related: Tracy WilsonSource: Manish Mehta on Twitter Nov 28 - 4:58 PM

    Little Surprising.

Yeah, he hasn't made a big play on ST all season.............

  5. Saw from film/highlights of Wilson in college after the Jets picked him up. I don't think he's the 2 deep coverage safety we are missing right now...but he does have above average instinct, which could translate to a real ballhawk/playmaker type of player. Let's see if he gets any PT and if so what he does with it.

This sucks... Cook was getting the job done on ST. Certainly more than a guy like Lankster... I guess this was Westy's call though...

I doubt it was an injury, we just suck at safety. I love me some Jimmy, but he is all heart and less ability.

And the Cottontail Shelf simply sucks, even on HGH.

Pool is stupid, probably because the multiple concussions have turned his grey matter into oatmeal. Gotta find an answer before the smart teams pick our help apart from the back end.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Tanny told Rex what he was planning on doing with Lowery.

Pool is a JAG that throws his head forward when he hits. His half life is minimal because of that, which is why even a crappy team like Cleveland would cut him loose in a league where the safety position is in demand.

He is an in the box safety at a time where coverage is needed. We already have Eric Smith.

Don't you think Tannenbaum deferred to Rex and Tannenbaum on what player to cut or keep for satety/special teams? It's not like he just does these things for the hell of it.

And Smith and Hunter both deserve to have jobs on the team.. just probably in a reserve role. Smith might be our best special teamer. Mulligan however.. he is shit.

Are you serious? You would cut our RT or a starting safety over a jag on STs. He made 1 good play it just happened to be yesterday.

Emmanuel Cook CUT!! And WHY is this news???? 9 out of 10 Jets fans have probably never even heard of this guy. Big WHOOP! His own FAMILY probably doesn't consider this news. Excellent post though.

    Yes Yes I would.

Pool would be a better option at FS, he's faster plays the run well, and overall is better. Great he leads with his head but I'd take Pool over smith.

Maybe with our Current depth at RT I wouldn't but if we sign someone Hunter should be backup in a VERY VERY reserved role.

BTW (not racism or anything but are we the only team to have 2 white starting safeties)

The ball was kicked directly at him, and he jumped on top of it. He did his job and it was certainly important to the Jets, but frankly I'd fancy my chances of being able to pull off that move.

Uhh.... What difference would this make? The only thing that matters is talent at a position not race, religion, or ethnicity.

Like I said the only thing that matters is talent, if there aren't any talented white safeties then so be it.....

The question he should ask is "who has less talented safeties than us" or something in this vein.

Ok so Cook has some fans (I'm one). That said Westhoff sees these guy in practice EVERY day... if they decide Lankster & Tracy Wilson are more valuable than Cook then I believe them.

I'm guessing Tannebaum did this move with discussion/input from Rex...
