I was going to comment how you know nothing about football.

Then I read this post and realized it has nothing to do with your football knowledge but the fact that you are just mentally challenged.

the word you were looking for is except.

You should check out knicksonline.com You should fit right in with the rest of the uneducated posters on that site.

    FCOL.

If the fake is to the UPBACK the RB releases free to the outside, the LB is behind and the CB has to be over the top.

    Not Rocket Science.

The inside hand off places the LB in a 2 point position. Safety or PD.

Doesn't matter, at that point the QB is being trusted to be able to read that as a busted play. If it was a screen play that was busted because Green was engaged or got wiped out the same would hold true.

The probably with the play is the QB didn't realize it was busted as soon as he looked down field. An Oc should be able to call a play like this anytime he wants to. This play is the epitome of conservative and MS still f'ed it up.

    It's so funny it's sad.

Why would the LB behind if he has outside responsibility? It's not his job to jump in the A gap. And if Florence is playing man on Holmes, he'd never release to cover an RB coming to the flat.

Not rocket science, but your own input leaves a lot to interpret.

    Ummm...

THe Lb would be behind if Greene does not take the fake and releases outside.

Not my input. Slow mo evaluation.

Look above. It's YOUR point..being made about Greene, when the ball is already IN THE AIR.

Greene one yard out, step for step, ball in the air?

    Did I Miss something?

Who are you going to believe, your lying eyes?

Why does it matter if there was a checkdown? Lets go with that it was a bad call. Doesn't change that he could throw it at the recievers feet, release a bullet 20 feet behind everyone ...

If there's no receiver beyond the line of scrimmage and Sanchez throws it at their feet it is intentional grounding and a safety. That's why having no checkdown is such a disaster.

Is there anyone with insight into other teams' playcalling who might be able to provide an example of another team running a similar play in a similar situation?

Taking it at face value this seems like a really horrible call, but I wonder if there is any precedent for it? Would any other OC call a pass play from their own end zone where there is only one WR running a route or is this unique to Schotty's ingenious playbook?

That's a very narrow minded view.

A coaches job is to put his players in the best position to succeed.

Having your QB run a max protect PA play with only 1 receiver going over the middle does NOT do that.

    What are Sanchez's options there?

    1. Throw the ball away and risk intentional grounding = Safety
    2. Try to scramble out of the pocket, assuming the option even exists.
    3. Try to force the throw.

That play by design provides you with those 3 options, so you tell me, does that play put Sanchez in the best position to succeed or any QB for that matter?

Either I have misunderstood you or you have missunderstood me.

Barnett was there stride for stride with Greene all the way. Even if Greene never took a fake handoff he'd still be covered by Barnett.

    First read: covered
    Check down: covered
    Result: throw into triple coverage?!

Get to the LOS instead of throwing into triple coverage! All plays in the NFL are "bang bang" plays. There's no way Sanchez has to throw that ball into triple coverage or take a safety because of its design. He made a bad decision to throw that ball, and threw it inaccurately. This happens routinely with him.... I don't see how anyone could argue otherwise.

Kid had a good game in the red zone, no doubt there. But he's still making some bonehead throws that are killing us. Most QBs do that, Sanchez a little more than most.

Guys, this thread has me all pissed off now because:

    a. It's absolutely correct that the play call was inherently retarded and destined for failure in that situation.

    b. Sanchez did bail out of it by throwing that terrible interception, but what were the options?

    c. Those posters in this thread still too anti Sanchez to see the fucking obvious right in front of your stupid faces. Schotty is the worst OC in the league and puts the Jets in terrible situations.

ANJI, wtf are you looking at?

the idiocy of this thread and the sanchez apologistas is hilarious. he F'd up AGAIN and got picked AGAIN. We are lucky that the bills completely suck. Yes of course Schotty makes bad calls. But Sanchez makes bad reads and executes inconsistently. Hopefully they improve this week and get ready to beat the skins.

That is basically what he did but there was a defensive player underneath to pick the ball off. The best throw away option was probably to Greene.

I don't think anyone is arguing the fact that the throw itself was a horrendous decision, but it is important to note that the play call itself was destined for disaster or very little payoff in the first place.

The risk of that play call outweighed the rewards by an astronomical margin.

BINGO!! Perfectly said. Could not agree more.

People act like he should have just thrown the ball out of bounds.. that would have been a safety. He couldn't scramble because the Bills have the edges pretty well contained. His only option was take a shot down the field or spike the ball at one of the eligible receiver's feet.. Ducasse or something.

It was a terrible pass and he didn't read the underneath coverage, that's indisputable.. but the play design and play call set Sanchez, and the team up for total failure. Unfortunately it's a pretty common occurrence.
