Ok, this is funny, using the fact that they are rookie QB's as a reason thier stats should be INFLATED over Mark's is silly at best. They had no OTA and a shortened camp to prepare for the season. Typically as rookies tthat should have been a horid way to start off.
We are comparing young qbs to young qbs. There are only 3 3rd year guys. Not enough to compare. Then Flacco and Ryan shouldn't be included either. Throwing rookie qbs in the mix should make Sanchez look better, not worse, though Newton and Dalton have been very good.
better then freeman, not so much stafford, but stafford also has been oft injured, plays on turf, and has megatron. worse then ryam, marginally, better then flacco, both who have a year on him. better then bradford, who he has a year on
Honestly, when you lump them all in a group, I would say Stafford has the tools to be the best of the bunch, if he can stay healthy. In among the rest there is not much spepration which leads me to belive, barring one of them making huge strides forward, your looking at the new crop of average QB's over the next decade. They make have a few special seasons in them, but as a whole they are more Rich Gannon than Peyton Manning. Needed to edit that, Cam also is showing a bit of greaness. Forgot the added him in from the OP.
Andy Dalton and Cam Newton don't have 3 years of experience. I think thats a bigger disadvantage than a defense not having tape on you, and Dalton is pretty conventional, I don't think the guy has a lot of secrets. You just seem upset that these rookies are higher on the list than the Sanchize who, according to you, took a step towards being "elite".
the problem with sanchez is he terribly inaccurate although alot of that can be blamed on poor routes and bad coaching and the fact that he cant read defenses (thats on him)
Hahahah why can't we compare Dalton and Cam to Sanchez? Ok lets compare Sanchez's 1st year to Daltons and Newton's 1st year, they are great and already adjusted to the league while Sanchez was artocious. Face it Sanchez is a below average- average qb not franchise or elite like his jockstraps are calling him. Oh ya you wanna talk about winning games? Tebow just won 5 games in a row I guess hes Joe Montana.
Tebow just had 5 4th quarter comebacks in the 4th quarter alone thats it dude the next Joe Montana im convinced. Its not the defense for Tebow and it wasn't the defense for Sanchez. Sanchez and Tebow are greater then Aaron Rodgers because they suck like dogshit in the 1st 3 quarters and finally show up in the last 2 minutes of the game. Oh ya how many superbowls has Sanchez won with our great defense and offensive line for his 1st 2 years of the season? I guess Sanchez is better then Brady and Manning to who won with crappy defense and turned nobody receivers into gold while Sanchez had 2 great receivers last year, a good tightend, a great defense, and offensive line and still managed to be 9-7. Give any drafted qb a shutdown corner who plays like hes superman, a great offensive line, a great defense, a great special teams and if they can't make the playoffs then I will shut my mouth. You Sanchez groupies are acting like he had a crappy team to work with, he was sorrounded by talent all around so go fuck yourself dude sucked, still sucks and will always suck. And the good Qb's don't need comeback wins because they show up in the 1st half of the game and don't need to pull wins out of their asses. Can Sanchez me a starting Qb in the nfl sure, is he or will he ever be a elite quarterback like you groupies are making him out to be fuck no. He beat a crappy Buffalo team on the last drive but had 2 miracle catches and hit wide open receivers, the Buffalo defense was tired lets see him do that to the Giants, Dolphins or Washington who has a good healthy defense.
Including Newton and Dalton is fine, but then to be fair you would have to include all other first year QB's like Gabbert, Ponder and Tebow as well.
Not a bad jump from year 2 to year 3. Besides the obvious INTs, his comp % is the only thing that concerns me. Would love him to be around that 60% mark.
Sanchez haters are so off base its ridiculous. He has a QB Rating of 81 with 18 TDs and 11 Ints --Not bad stats for a third year QB. There are only NINE QBs in the NFL with a rating over 90. the TOP EIGHT have all been in the league at least 6 years. The only young QB with a rating over 90 is Stafford, at 90.7 Good for him ... but he also has the advantage of throwing to the best WR in the world ... plus he plays a majority of his games indoors, under perfect conditions. You think those factors might bump up your numbers a bit?? Sanchez is far from great, and he certainly needs to improve ... but if you think he can't play in this league you're asleep at the wheel.
You don't think having a top 5 defense and averaging something like 160 rushing yards per game between the 2 seasons helped at all? Mark Sanchez was along for the ride, although, I will give him credit for playing decently in the playoffs, but the fact they even got to the playoffs in 09 had very little to do with Sanchez. Statistically, nearly every other pass he throws is incomplete. He consistently throws to covered receivers as if he has the accuracy of Manning, Rodgers, Brees, or Brady. Despite his overall winning percentage, he still looks like he mentally collapses after the first mistake he makes, completely awful body language. Yes, I know he has a god awful OC and the OL hasn't played up to standard, but Sanchez doesn't deserve a free pass. Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow are not good quarterbacks, they are labeled as "winners" because their teams have stepped up their play.
I didn't even realize that he opened his post with "5 4th quarter comebacks in the 4th quarter alone" ...as opposed to 4th q comebacks in the first half..?
Completion percentage (and its affect on QB rating) have been a major discussion point about Sanchez this year, resulting in the consensus that it badly needs improvement. What I don't see discussed enough is the effect of the team philosophy on those numbers. Our offense does not feature many checkdowns. Greene can't catch, so he isn't thrown to much. Keller and the WRs run short-intermediate routes so often that defenses key on it, but that's not a checkdown/dumpoff. Chad Pennington's accuracy was continuously touted partially because Hackett's offense was checkdown and dump off city. We hated this because it was overkill, but it keeps the ball moving. I'm not saying our offense would be better, or Sanchez's YPA would be any higher, but I'm willing to bet he'd be completing over 60% this season if Hackett was the OC. If out of Sanchez's 163 incomplete passes, if even 20 of them were successful dumpoffs to a HB, FB, or TE hanging out near the line or releasing, voila, his completion percentage skyrockets to 61.6%. Probably also helps us sustain more drives. We do it to a degree when Tomlinson is in the game, but in 2 games without him, Mark is 41/75 (54.6%). Another thing to consider is: We throw it away a lot. You can assign blame everywhere: Mark not seeing open guys, guys not getting separation, shitty play design not getting anyone open, good coverage, yadda yadda. A major Rex philosophy is to get rid of the damn ball when nothing is quickly available, because Mark is so good at throwing to the other team.
You lose credibility by mischaracterizing the concerns about him. Did you watch the game? TD's are not merely the results of the Qb's efforts and his efforts alone. It is after all a team sport.
