um... to whom? only WR on the play was triple covered over the middle. doing so would have been intentional grounding, and a safety.

looking at this picture, sanchez could've thrown to those 2 jets players in the upper part, who are apparently just there to chat, play a little and watch the game from a great perspective

Not only within 5 yards of the LOS - every single Jet on the play was behind the line of scrimmage except for Holmes when Sanchez threw it. That meant every single DB had one responsibility - Holmes. There was no one else for them to even look for, let alone for Sanchez to throw it to.

The Jets had eight men blocking four pass rushers, Greene off playaction with a linebacker right on him, which left six LBs and DBs to react to Sanchez's throw/cover Holmes. Which is a recipe for disaster.

The throw wasn't good - it would have been behind Holmes, but there is no excuse for that miserable play selection.

Just to add to this, even if Mark rolls left then he has to scramble/run to make the play. If he rolls left and Ferguson loses his block, then Mark throws the pick anyway. Greene would be on the other side of the field, so he's not making that throw, so his only option would be Holmes.

Yeah- Having our least elusive offensive player who cant catch running a wheel route is not a "fine" play call. Its beyond stupid.

You can see a replay of the int on the highlight reel.

It was basically a play action fake, with conner heading left and Greene heading right. After the fake Greene stays in to chip block before releasing. Sanchez never even looked his way. The best play probably would have been throwing at greene's feet, but Greene is engaged almost the whole time.

and rolling the dice with a 7 point lead and your defense playing well. But to your point, shotty just doesnt seem to do well in-game. i dont really know what happens during the week, maybe he is fantastic, but its pretty obvious he shouldnt be involved during the games in calling plays.

i mean sanchez was off early... why not give him a screen pass or 2, or a dump off to get him in some kind of rhythm, instead of keep on with what isnt working?

Absolutely.... Clearly the best option, in hindsight, would be to throw it at mulligans feet, for an incompletion. but event hat is not without risk, and has 0 chance of a POSITIVE result, unless u consider 0 yards and a loss of down a positive. if sanchez doesnt get ti close enough, intentional grounding, etc....

LOL...I guess having trouble catching is not all bad. There in lies one of the biggest issues with Greene. You need him in there to really sell the play fake but then you essentially end up with one less receiving option. There is absolutely no way he would catch a sideline wheel route pass.

    what?
we're talking about a dead play
    either interception or safety
passing to one of those two guys can at least save the play from being a disaster
The play was still very bad though

You people that booed Sanchez at his intro are a disgrace.

Can't Wait till my QB brings us home a championship and you all are stuck with your dicks in your hand.

(Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but didn't want to start a new one just based on that)

Yup, or basically gone all Tebow, which seems like the norm today, and scrambled for a 97 yard TD.

If you are going to design a play where you have one player out in a route at least have it be a sideline 9 route. It makes it easier for the QB to throw it away out of bounce. If by chance it does get INT'd, it's further down the field making it more like a punt.

Dive for no gain. The LOS was the 4 yard line. You don't force throws from your own endzone, or I guess I should say: shouldn't.

Anyways, I'm not bashing Sanchez's game as a whole. He was cash/money in the red zone. But that throw, that was a bad throw regardless of play design.
