If anyone thinks Schotty is not to blame, I feel sorry for you.

I scaled Schittenheimer's '09 and '10 seasons according to having a rookie and sophomore QB, and thought he did a decent job in those seasons given his roster. Outside of that, his offenses have been subpar.

'06 was all smoke and mirrors and teams adjusted to it by the end, nobody stretched the field, run game was never there. '07 OL was trash, but also Schitt was dismal at half time adjustments all year. '08 the offense with a rebuilt OL and new found run game was good not great for 3/4 of the year, until Favre tore his bicep and yet Schott still didn't decide to pound the rock vs Seattle or Miami. We threw the ball all day long with Favre's bicep dangling below his fuckin tricep. Schott is just too inconsistent, even in his fifth year, to instill any confidence from the fan base. He's gotta be canned after this year.

Either way, after five seasons, what he's done isn't enough to justify bringing him back. Time to go in another direction.

Yea I mever got how and why he slipped through the cracks. Mangini's bend but dont break, conservative nonsense was killing us. We were pro-active in bringing in a fired up, aggressive coach with an attacking defense. I dont get why we'd keep a guy who's personality and game plan (or lack there of) doesnt reflect the new culture and coaching staff you're bringing in.

While I agree that blocking is extremely important, a good playcaller knows how to overcome weaknesses. Green Bay,Chicago and Pittsburgh all have had poor O-line play.

Essentially, those who support Schotty are saying he needs a perfect offense to be competent.I dont know one offense who is good at every position. What pisses me off more than the 5 yard routes on 3rd and 8 is the fact that they're curl routes. It's one thing to run a slant, where if the guy catches it in stride, the defender may be in the trail position. A curl route typically only gets YAC if the corner misses the tackle. Any professional football coach should know that the chances of a guy running a 5 yrd route, turning around, catching the ball, then running up field @ least 3 yards without being tackled is highly unlikely.

Combination of an average QB and a little boy for an OC.

It's not much of debate when the guy has a 4% approval rating (and I have a feeling even that is a little inflated). I just hope that this level of disapproval is beginning to be felt within the organization and not just in the fanbase...

It's not Shotty. Lets start looking at the players. There's no area of the team that has improved over the past two years. We have an average QB at best. The OL has deteriorated. We need a better RB. Is this Shotty's problem or a management issue? IMO it's more a personnel problem then a Shotty issue.

And that's schottys fault they threw lots of picks?

I'm not saying don't attack a teams weakness, this is a much deeper issue. I remember reports of Brett disregarding play calls and doing what he wanted to do.

Maybe Schottenheimer gave a perfect play call every fucking time, but instead both QBs decided to throw a pick. My bad on that.

*Hard to reason with a retard anyway.*

If this is the case, then Schottenheimer shouldn't take credit for what Favre did well either. You can't have it both ways.

So now we name calling ok let's play that game.

I'm not saying he called perfect play calls you moron point out when I said he did. How is a qb making a bad decision or a ball getting tipped be the fault of the oc?

That proves you know shit about football.

Btw I never gave credit for schotty positive or negative. I always credit the qb when they play well or fuck up because at the end of the day the players are the ones that have to execute the plays.

PLEASE tell me how an offense is supposed to "execute" on 3rd down and 7 when there are 5 WR's who are running five yard button hooks?

You're right, Sanchez is supposed to throw to a guy in double coverage and that WR is supposed to break two tackles to get the 1st because that woul be executing in those instances...

You didn't know that the offense is only the responsibility of the QB? All the other 10 guys on the field are there for looks, not for execution, and the OC is just one big cheerleader like on the Colts.

Yea because those are the only plays schotty runs. I can post a gif of a good play call to make point about schotty being a good oc. But that would be counter productive.

That was a bad play call but if it worked no one would be saying anything.

    Basically "execution"

If Sanchez throws into double coverage how would that be schottys fault? As a qb shouldn't Sanchez look elsewhere if a receiver is doubled? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

I'm not making excuses for schotty he's had some bad play calls. But my point is that the offense to a certain extent is the way it is because of the limitations of our qb.

I truly hope we can bring in a magical offensive coordinator that can turn Sanchez into Montana 2.0

The only problem I see with that game is that the whole team came out flat and REX should bear the responsibility for that.

sanchez is nowhere near limited enough in his scope of talent to inhibit an offense. the ol may be playing bad enough to but he hast had bad ol play his entire career, in fact, hes had exceptionally good ol play. maybe the running backs are bad but do you really need to keep reaching for reasons to say schotty might not be screwing the whole thing up? when it comes down to it people all ove rthe league are talking about being able to read our offense and corners are covering 2 receivers at once against us because they are never more than 5 yards away from each other.

you said it yourself, you credit the qb, and blame him when things go bad, that is not the right way to look at it. a good oc IS invisible because he isnt out there on the field and if his players are playing well he is doing well. but when there are consistent holes in the offensive game plan, and the quarterback shows flashes of talent and everything else around him is falling apart, you dot blame the qb.

I like how this play keeps being brought up, and how Shotty gets blamed for it when it was simply a good play by the Pats and a misread by Sanchez and the O-line. It's been posted many times before, but I'll just say it again:

That play was either audibled to or audibled out of because Sanchez and the O-line thought a blitz was coming. Instead, the Patriots dropped 8 guys into coverage. The play makes sense in the context of the situation: get the WR's open quick, and they just need to pick up 1 or 2 yards after the catch. If the Patriots actually did blitz, there would be uncovered WR's and space for them to run after the catch.

Can we please stop talking about one play, and start looking at the overall body of Schotty's work? Guys are getting open, the problem is Sanchez is holding onto the ball and missing throws, and the O-line is missing crucial blocks which hurts the run game and gets Sanchez sacked. The majority of sports analysts keep bringing these two points up (Sanchez is playing bad or O-line is playing bad). I think we need to stop saying that Schottenheimer is the "real issue".
