If Wayne doesn't give up a sack next game I am going to send him a Terducken.

Hunter needs to go in-season, not in the off-season. Unfortunately the depth won't allow for that and so Sanchez will take many more hits this season that he shouldn't and his ability to develop will be diminished.

This is the second time Tannenbaum has screwed the pooch on the offensive line. It's a huge factor in what is going on now and it comes close to a disqualifier in terms of Tannenbaum's effectiveness moving forward. He may well find the guy next year that fixes the line but nobody is getting this year back and just like 2007 lead to huge changes in the Jets offense 2011 is going to be one of those pivot years where the what-if's haunt us for a long time.

that either mulligan or hunter hasnt been replaced or had their minutes severely limited is laughable at this point. why are we not trying everything we can to upgrade those positions? i mean isnt it glaringly obvious that these are practice squad level players? what would be so awful about at least trying some new guys out?

The fact that mulligan hasnt been replaced is pretty shocking.

Replacing hunter isnt as easy. Dont get me wrong hes absolute dog shit, but competent offensive lineman arent usually available in the middle of the season.

Unless Woody feels like coming out of retirement shit aint happening until next season

Looking back it was a horrible pick, but it wasn't a reach at the time.

Why? Because some team was rumored to have him targeted that round? The Saints or someone?

The 07 team would have sucked anyway. Mostly JAGS everywhere, Curtis was gone. It helped lead us to do the right thing and turn the page with Pennington. He went on to have a nice year with Miami, but it indirectly led more importantly to a new era of Jets football with Favre and then Rex/Sanchez.

I don't know why we didn't pay Kendall, but we got Faneca and Woody a year after enduring Clarke and Clement. Kendall retired after two years with the Skins. We got two years of good to great LG play with Faneca. Maybe good foresight to not saddle ourselves with a Kendall contract.

We tried to prevent this RT problem with Woody getting old by drafting Ducasse. We just missed (badly), and now our OL depth has one great player, one very good LT, one good (older) RG, one slightly starter-worthy LG, and a horrible RT. There's a lot of room for improvement.

Ducasse's just not smart enough to use his immense physical talents to his ability, or Callahan can't get anything through to this guy. That scenario I doubt. The worst mistake this regime has made thus far is the Ducasse pick, but at least they had the foresight to go for it. Everything starts in the trenches.

It wasn't a reach because that was the range he was put in by most draft pundits. Either way, it's a moot point because all signs point to him being a bust. It's time we seriously reevaluate the right tackle position because we can't go into next season with the same personnel at that position.

I wasn't really arguing about any of this. I stated the Kendall situation because I believe that was what Br4dw4y was speaking of; in his post he specifically mentioned 2007 and 2011 being offensive 'pivot' years where problems in the offensive line proved to be huge problems for the development (or lack thereof) of the Jets offense in those (this) years (year). In 2007 it was the kendall contract dispute that started the clarke turnstile experiment that season. This year he's referring to the instatement of Hunter as the starting RT.

If anything he probably sees this and the drafting of Ducasse as one and the same; the drafting of Ducasse which, so far, has not produced any dividends for the Jets or for the offensive line is what has allowed Wayne Hunter to become the starter at RT.
