I'm sold.....Schotty needs to be cleaning out his locker today! I think we all have had enough of him.
Who in free agency can we bring in next year to shore up the offensive line to help our new offensive coordinator....give me some names and give me some hope. I want a mammoth road gading upgrade from Hunter and possibly Moore.
You make a great point, junc. How is it the OC's fault when our QB throws pick 6's right to the other team? It is on the QB.
it's the OC's fault when to you fail to call plays that suit the QB's strengths and the offenses strengths as a whole (while trying to hide it's weaknesees), it's also the OC's fault when the game plan becomes stale and predictable each week.....ground and pound doesn't mean you have to run on first down basically every series. This teams takes 2 quarters to get warmed up on O every week....again the OC's fault. I know Offensive coordinators take a lot of heat from fans.......but some of you guys make it sound like they should never be accountable for the team's failures to produce. Schotty's gotten plenty of reprieves from me as a fan........his time has come, it's time to move on.
At this point our offense is in need of changing. You either scrap the Sanchez project or bring in a OC who will fit an offense around what he does best. Shotty is still trying to plug him into a west coast style despite Marks limiitations with it. - Passing out of empty sets when we already have protection problems has to go. - Inability to convert on third has to be improved. - The lack of any deep strikes is shrinking the feild for the defenses against us allowing them to keep 8 in the box and stop both our ground game and short passing scheme. These things, IMO, are on schotty. Our offense plays too conservitive early and makes far too many mistakes when its forced to try and come from behind. If its not Shotty and his scheme, what is the problem?
Yeah, no other QB throws int's or pick 6's Listen, Alvin Keels, a better question might be didn't we have a pick 6 problem with ole noodle arm, under the same oc? And he was smart?
all i know is you look at the resurgence alex smith has had now he has a competent coaching staff working with him - something needs to change as its clear the Sanchez/schitty combo isnt working - one or both need to be kicked to the curb after this season (this season already being a write off).
Its teh fuckin QBs fault. He sucks. Everyone keeps askin Schotty to call plays that suits Marks strengths. The ONLY thing he can do is throw a fuckin slant. How many can we call? Schotty discovered that the Broncos were pretty vulnerable to teh screen last night and he called 4 or 5 of them. Of course they looked ugly cuz Sanchez sucks, but they were reasonably effective. Eaxctly what strengths should Schotty be playing to?? His deep ball sucks...his back shoulder pass is laughable.....Whats Mark's strenghts? If you ask Mark to go thru progressions, hes useless and will dump it off in 2 seconds or less...off his back foot of course cuz hes scared and panicked. Ive been sayin it for a while, Schotty prolly watches this guy in practice and looks at Rex and just puts his arms in the air.......... Play action. I forgot play action. Mark does that well but we cant run well enough to utilize it.
I have friends who are fans of many sucky teams... and I am married to a Vikings fan. None of them complain about their OC like Jets fans do. He sucks.
I'm not arguing for Sanchez to be the savior because I don't think he is, but it's not just the QB dragging this team down. Sanchez is probably an average to below average NFL starting QB, right? The team puts up atrocious offensive numbers week in and week out. That does not fall all on the QB when the entire offense is god awful. You cannot tell me that every loss this season has been Mark's fault. He's actually been probably better than ever other than that pick six. Yet the offense continues to be terrible. Honestly, they need a complete overhaul in my opinion. Can Schotty and start fresh. Give Sanchez one more year to figure his shit out and then give up. I hated the Holmes deal because I never thought he was that good but we're stuck with him. I prefer Plaxico because he's a big target and does have very good hands. Keep Kerley around, D'Brick, Mangold, Moore, Slauson. Replace the rest of these bums (all the TEs, all the RBs, Wayne Hunter, etc.)
the OC is always the first to get blamed by any fanbase, absolutely. But with schotty it's warranted 95% of the time. you and big blocker are the only ones who seem to disagree There's no OC in football who's had more offensive talent and has done less with it in his tenure than BS.
I agree too often people blame the play-calling, but at this point, it's safe to say Schott has been a failure as an OC. Five years and what exactly have his offenses done? Jack fucking shit. Add in the fact that Pennington and Favre had career years after they stopped working with Schott and it only makes you scratch your head more. The fan base crucified Hackett too, but Hackett's offenses were garbage the entire time other than the 2002 stretch run. When's the last time the Jets had a consistent, explosive offense? 98?
What happens if we change our OC for say TOM MOORE and Sanchez still sucks? Should we make excuses for the QB again and seek a new OC to replace Moore?
Well Schotty did get us to the AFCCG with a raw rookie QB twice. But his greatest failure as I see it is his failure to make SANCHEZ into a QB who can win games without a great supporting cast around him. That is what we fans want and have not received. So we make excuses for the QB and crucify the OC and his QB coach and that is fair enough. Perhaps the real failure is at the HC position. REX does not get overly involved with the Offense. he comes out and says we are going to win the SB and we are a GROUND & POUND team. Yet he also wanted to throw the ball more this year. Sanchez can not throw the ball 40 to 50 times and win as demonstrated by the loss to the Broncos et al. Make Sanchez play within himself and surround him with a better cast and Sanchez can win!
Maybe its because fans need to find excuses for a QB they worship. We are JETS fans and should be seeking solution not more excuses. Without a great supporting cast Sanchez is incapable of carrying the team to victory and it would not make any difference who the OC is.
