1) Who said anything about wins? 2) Who said anything about just this season? Read the original post. I said they play horrific on nationally televised games in the regular season, in recent history -- which, in my mind, I include prior 2 years as well as this year. But using your poor reading comprehension, do you feel they played well against Dallas? They also played poorly against Miami for 50% of the game, this year. Clearly, for you, those are wins to hang your hat on.
this is a good point.....we need to also stop wearing all whites pretty sure we have lost all of our games in which we have worn them, if were going white tops @ least go green pants
Disagree completely. You're focusing too much on the losses, specfically how and who we lost too. They're 2-2 this year, with a good shot at being 3-2. We went 3-1 last year in primetime games (obliterated by NE, beat Cincy, Mia, and Minny). Offhand I don't know how we faired in Rex's first year, but we beat Cincy on the last day of the year and lost to Miami. Idk if there were other primetime games that year. Who cares what % of the game they played poorly in? The Dallas game was the first game after a massive lockout where most teams were sloppy. We won. Dallas is a good team, who cares what % of the game we led/didn't lead by. We beat Miami by 3 possessions. Again, who gives a shit if we played evenly for a half.
So playing only a half of good football doesn't concern you? Did it concern you after the Steelers loss in the AFC Champ game? Also, the Ravens game was a national game last year, you forgot that. Starting slow concerns me when the Jets spot the opposition 14 points causing the Jets to get out of their gameplan.
No, what concerns me is losses. We played like garbage for a half against the Chargers, and came back and won. How is that game any different? How many teams can say they played a great game 100% of the way through every game of the season? We lost the Steelers game. Thats what concerned me. This was also a postseason game which was out of the scope of your discussion. Good call on the Ravens game, forgot about that one. With that said though, our record in nationally televised regular season games with Rex is above .500, and is even better when you take the postseason into concern. So I don't understand the point of this thread. Seems like an overreaction to me, but then again so is 90% of this board after a loss.
Right about the Steelers. I sort of was alluding to the fact that I don't want these slow starts trickling into the playoffs like last year. They are sort of becoming "acceptable" because nothing has changed. The point of this thread was basically to say, I've never seen a team embarassed as much as the 2008-2011 Jets have been on national tv. Also I've posed legitimate questions which haven't been answered. How can a team come out and play that sloppy? This is not the first time the Jets have done this for a big game. The coaching staff needs to be held accountable. From Westhoff up to Rex.
Umm, not for nothing but we looked like shit against the Boys, the Bolts and the Fins and got bailed out in the end of the first two games mentioned. Strangely enough, all home games too. Those games may have used up our share of "luck" for 2011. This team, going back to last season, has had a very uncharacteristic run of good luck but this year, its beginning to run out it would seem.
The Cowboys game we looked like shit, not gonna lie about that, but at the same time it was the first game coming off of a lockout, where rust showed. I'm sick of these 'we looked like shit against the Dolphins' posts. We beat them by 3 possessions. THREE. Did you want to win by 30? Have you seen how close the Dolphins have played versus other teams? The Chargers game we had a subpar half, but dominated the 2nd half and won. I don't get where the luck was in that game other than Sanchez and Greene driving the offense down the field and making plays. Maybe you and I just have a different opinion of luck. I see luck, for example, the Browns/Rams game yesterday. The Rams should have lost, but the Browns missed a 24 yard field goal with approx 2 min left to win it. IMO, that is luck.
Again, we have a over a .500 record in primetime under Rex (even higher come postseason), so to say you've never seen a team be embarassed as much as the 08-11 Jets is an overreaction IMO. I just think with your post, you're magnifying the losses to a greater extent, because some were obviously embarassing (two games vs the Pats, and the last game vs the Ravens) and they were against good teams.
