I don't think he has had enough time to even do that.

Mark Sanchez has shown he can be a great QB, especially in the playoffs, and on the road. But he needs a running game. The biggest difference this year is that so far he has not had the running game he has had in the past. Do not forget we are a running team.
And right now we are a running team that can't run the ball. So the thread should really be Sanchez flaws when we can't run the ball. That being said I think the release is slow and the decision-making at times has been questionable.

Here's a flaw in sanchez.... his unspectacular receivers who drop the ball.

Or how about Schottenheimer? And his 'ground and pound" that has never worked

He looks good when he has time to throw, and he throwing down the middle of the field. He's throwing down the seams. The pass to Plax is his bread and butter.

That series we just scored on the Pats was awfully pretty... good running, good passing.

Damn, maybe we need Schotty!!

Wish the O-Coordinator knew something about using the Tight End.

Keller leads the team in receptions.

    Bad argument.

Is Keller hurt or something? I haven't heard his number called this whole game.

I thought sanchez played really well today. best QB on the field. that last touchdown throw he made, not many qbs in the league can complete that.

I remember this thread having some great points that I intend to re-read in full today. Just wondering if any of the Sanchez supporters care to re-evaluate their position? I remember IR saying this thread had some great evaluations of Sanchez, critical yet positive. Need to see that now.

With poor protection and WR's who are struggling to get open Sanchez is a liability because he won't give up on the play and just throw the ball away.

The moment I realized the Jets were probably going to lose last night was the 3 and out early in the second half. Despite the fact that Sanchez had been under pressure all night the Jets came out on a key possession and let the Pats double down on that. That's just not the way to do things. The answer at that point was to start grinding on the ground and establish control of the flow and make the Pats back off. Instead for some reason the Jets decided to continue the pattern that had them down 16-9 at that point and was breathing life into the Pats defense.

It's possible that runs came in from the sidelines and Sanchez checked out of them, in which case he deserves the criticism for the sequence but basically if Schotty was so out of touch with what was happening on the field that he didn't understand his offense was losing the game at that point then he needs to be relieved of play-calling duties.

It would have been nice to hear things like the announcers saying that Sanchez missed wide open receivers against that crappy defensive backfield. The fact that they were instead saying that everybody was covered most of the time is just depressing because it means that nothing that Sanchez could have done last night would have made a difference.

Poor protection, no separation from receiver and when they do get open he throws a bad ball.

This year we're having some major OL problems. They were rushing 4 and consistently getting to the QB. What did you want Sanchez to do...?

Hunter still needs to develop some balls at age 30. You can see he's been a reserve all his life... in the big games he gets exposed.

Moore is not up to his play last year. On the wrong side of 30 + hip surgery have slowed him down. Still good at what he does but he doesn't have the speed or agility to go help other if they screw up...

Mulligan can't fucking block for his life. If we're not going to run a jumbo formation at least have a decent blocking TE in there... hoping Nelson shows something in practice and takes this guys' place. If it weren't for Westy we'd have already cut this little piece of shit.

The pass protection has been bad this year. It's the #1 breakdown on the Jets at this point and what will ultimately keep them out of the playoffs and likely eliminate them assuming they make the tournament.

No, I don't. This loss is on the entire team, not just Mark Sanchez.

The offense needs to be fixed. We need more depth at wideout and tight end. The offensive line needs to work shit out. The scheme needs to be completely changed.

The special teams unit played a horrible game. The McKnight fumble was a huge momentum shift.

The defense in the second half was trash. The sub-packages failed and Tom Brady exploited them.

Sanchez has so many problems it is just silly. He plays in the most QB friendly offense in the league. Unlike most QBs he rarely plays from behind, is not expected to carry the team, and on a team that runs the ball more than any team. One can only imagine how bad he would be on a team where he is not protected.

Sanchez only looks at 1/3 of the field, cannot read defenses (unless its a simplified vanilla 2 minute drill), telegraphs his throws and when he is rushed he panics and freezes. He has terrible ball security carrying hte ball like a loaf of bread. Consequently he leads the league in fumbles lost.

He can only throw 2 passes with any accuracy a slant and the fade in the endzone. Which are both simple reads. He cannot change up speeds of his passes. Which is why we see a high 4 yard laser launched at Greene become a turnover.

Do you ever see Sanchez move his head and look around the field? No he keeps it one spot and that is a very small portion of the field. If you give him all day and don't put a defender within 5 yards of a receiver like the Bills did he can play but then so could your mother. But if you flood the middle and take away Sanchez's slant route and Keller over the middle the play may as well be over. Just a little pressure on Sanchez and all we can hope is its not a turnover.

In the pocket he is extremely awkward. He usually looks like he needs to find a restroom while he is bouncing on both feet. One can just feel the nervous sweat pouring down his face when he bounces in the pocket. But notice the occasional times he escapes the pocket he plays much better and more instinctively. I am not a Mangini fan but he was right when he said the key to defending Sanchez is to keep him in the pocket and force him to make plays from the pocket.

Sanchez is simply a very bad QB. He can only play well on play action or when not rushed. Terrell Suggs is right he is soft. Under pressure he folds up. For 3 years now the Jets gameplan has been to protect and limit his exposure in passing situations. Essentially protecting the team from him. They do this by only letting Sanchez throw in safe situations. The entire offense is designed around protecting Sanchez from making mistakes. Every once in awhile the team said the kid gloves are off and its time to give Sanchez more responsibility. Which is quickly taken away once he again proves he makes to many mistakes. If Sanchez was drafted by a team that did not protect or have the talent of the Jets would wither be 3rd string now or out of the league. Sanchez may be a nice guy but he simply is not an NFL QB. He cannot handle pressure in the pocket. That is his biggest problem and what will force him to the bench in the next year or two. The only reason he is not on the bench now is there are no viable alternatives.
