It seems like every game the Jets have been televised nationally, in recent history, during the regular season, they play horrific. FURTHERMORE, they always rant about having the best week of practice ever.

So what is the disconnect? Why do they commit self-inflicting wounds? Why are they coming out flat, even when Tomlinson came out and said everyone was aware the symbolic meaning of this game? What is it about Rex that allows this team to break down fundamentally?

I can't compute how the same scenario plays over and over and no changes have been made.

    Let's discuss.

I think its more than just not playing well on national tv, which is bad enough.
I think this team, right now, cannot handle a situation like last night, where they are expected to win. They play much better when they're on the ropes. If the Pats had just given the Jets a solid beating, I would've thought that last nights game was about the Pats bouncing back. But lets face it, the Jets shot themselves in the foot last night. It wasn't until it was 23-16 could you say that the Pats took over.

yup, right after our offense closed the gap, Brady/gronk took over the game. But had we played even remotely good in the first quarter with the 7 million opportunities they gave us, the game would have looked very different.

oh idk. It might have something to do with playing quality opponents in those games, instead of scrubs or wannabe contenders like the Chargers and Bills

I was not impressed with the Pats last night, which makes the loss even more humiliating

Exactly. They're not playing run of the mill games on prime time. It's not uniforms, it's not this ill-conceived "added pressure," they just aren't to the calibur of the teams they play in prime time.

And I get it, the playoff game we took it to the Pats. Does anyone really not consider that game an upset?

I think Rex over-emphasizes these kind of games, and the team chokes. When they are expected to win, and make a big deal out of games like these, they fail.

Playoffs are different (at least the last 2 years) because, although the games are MORE important, the Jets have been underdogs and have been playing with 'house money'. When they are not given a chance, they succeed.

You tend to focus on the bad when you lose games, especially the way we were man handled. We beat the Cowboys and Fins in national TV. We have the Broncos this Thursday. So we're 2-2 in primetime games, with a chance to be 3-2. We were 3-1 in primetime games last season.

The problem is in those losses we've looked like a pee wee football team.

this is retarded, as we are 2-2 in primetime games this season.

How do you "over-emphasize" a division game against your key rival with the AFCE title on the line?

The announcers mentioned it last night- the Jets were treating this like a mini-Superbowl, and the Patriots were treating it as the next game up.

Yeah that Bengals, Chargers, Colts, Patriots game werent nationally telivised right?

Im pretty sure the Patriots playoff game drew the highest rating any Non-Super Bowl NFL game EVER has. It broke all records.

    Not even close.

The 3 Pats/Colts AFCCG's were the highest rated non-Super Bowl games ever.

The uni thing was something I bought up to wifey while we watched the game. WTF was the thinking behnd wearing ROAD uniforms in your supposed HOME stadium when you're trying to establish some sort of home field advantage??? The Patriots wore their home unis and they played like they were at Foxboro too. We wore our road unis and true to form, we lost.

If the Jets really want to establish HFA, then they damn well better start acting like they're at home. Wearing the white road unis at home was a huge mistake IMO. Maybe its all the decades of not having a home ballpark of their own put them in this mindset but Woody didn't chip in half a billion for this I'm sure..

Oh my bad it drew the highest Divisional Rating ever. And it was actually very close to the Championship games. Last years game got a 26.2 rating while the Patriots Colts 2007 Championship game got a 26.4
