Just a week ago he was getting praised for calling a good game. Now its back to schotty doesn't know what he's doing. What good is an oc if the plays aren't being executed that well? schotty tried to take advantage of their weak pass defense by going verticle. Isn't that what jets fans complained about? You guys wanted mark to throw the ball more. He tried it but either our wr's couldn't create seperation or the o line wasn't giving him enough time in the pocket.

They tried to balance it out with run and pass but neither was that affective for the majority of the game.

Their defense played great and we couldn't beat them.

Btw this team is handcuffed by marks slower than expected progress as a qb.

Plaxico Burress had 3 catches tonight. It's not like Sanchez wasn't looking for him. Plaxico just wasn't going and getting the ball. That near interception in the endzone was 100% lack of effort on Plaxico's part. He just kept fading towards the corner as a well thrown ball landed behind him at the corner of the endzone. Plaxico was almost out of bounds as the Pat nearly took the ball off of him. A few years ago Plaxico would have competed for that ball and caught it but he wasn't up to it tonight.

Yeah the stab on the throw across the middle was a great catch but there were a couple of other targets where a motivated receiver would have had the ball and Plaxico just couldn't get there to make the play. He's slow now and his reflexes are going and he just isn't the competitor he used to be. That's not his fault. He's 34 and he hasn't played much football in the last few years. The Plaxico of the Giants Super Bowl season would have had 6 catches last night including a TD in the corner of the endzone that almost got intercepted instead.

Holmes is not a big part of the offense this season because the Jets only really run a few plays to get him the ball. When they put him other places on the field it's mostly to open stuff up underneath for Keller.

He's bitching about his role because he recognizes that he's being used as the slant option and the Jets don't throw enough passes to make that look good most games. The hidden truth is that he's really not that good except on the quick hitters and slants. He doesn't run the go routes well at all and never has separation on them. He's not a screen type receiver despite having the quickness to make that work.

I was very much for keeping him over Edwards if that was the choice but it's clear at this point that he's a system player who relies on a constant stream of slants to make his impact. Edwards, for all his flaws, would burn the hell out of any defense that tried to cover him one on one as defenses routinely do with Holmes.

With the people around him I don't see how Sanchez could be progressing much more at this point.

The offensive line is clearly below average at this point with multiple leakage points that have caused constant pressure in the backfield. Compounding that we have an idiot at offensive coordinator whose answer to a bad line is to spread things out in the shotgun and make it clear that a pass is coming. This despite his QB being best off of play-action.

The receivers can't get separation consistently and were covered tonight by the worst group of defensive backs I've ever seen play against the Jets. Sanchez should have had a couple of people open by accident on every play and instead NBC kept panning out to show us how everything was covered.

How the heck can everything be covered when the guys in the Patriot's defensive backfield will likely be loading trucks behind Walmart in a year or two? What's the point of having Darrelle Revis and company in our defensive backfield if anybody can shut down Brian Schottenheimer's routes?

It's gotten to the point where I'm worried the Jets are going to have to get rid of Sanchez to finally prove to management what has been plain to most observers of the Jets for the last four seasons or so: Brian Schottenheimer's offense is pedestrian in a league full of high flyers.

Here's the state of the Jets:

They'll be 9-4 going to play the wretched 5-8 Eagles. Mark it down.

I still got faith. Do you?

I knew there was going to be negativity on the board...I mean, we played like utter crap. Complete dogshit. In every phase of the game. But, this team has come back from worse and I have faith they'll recover over the next month. My god, our schedule really can't get much easier and we match up so well with each team.

Broncos, Bills, Redskins, Chiefs - our defense will hold each of these teams to under 20 points. It really comes down to the offense - Sanchez needs to play better football. Period. He's way too inconsistent and doesn't show up until the 2nd half. I think the oline is trending the right direction, despite the horrendous showing in pass protection tonight.

well today is going to be a juicy post mortem. it is a pedestrian offense at times with a pedestrian coordinator (some genetic copy of marty ball) and unfortunately a QB with a talented arm but not so talented feet and pocket presence.

i thought the pocket stuff would get better but there are times he looks absolutely lost if the script doesn't pan out.

still the basic NFL throws become a herky jerky adventure at times and that has got to change. the jets are not good enough in personnel or at the OC spot to mask the QB inconsistencies

The playoff situation as it sits right now is as follows:

    Houston #1 Seed(BYE)
    Pittsburgh #2 Seed(BYE)
    New England #3
    Oakland#4
    Baltimore#5
    Cincinnati#6

The Jets are still alive with an easy schedule left, BUT....New England has the easiest schedule in the NFL left. With losses to both Oakland and Baltimore, you desperately need Cincinnati to choke for you to make the wild card.

This should not be difficult when looking at the Bengals schedule, they have Baltimore twice, Pittsburgh, and Houston, 4 tough games and the rest are gravy games.

So the season is not over yet, but you guys definitely need to beat Tebow and the Broncos, the giants, THE BILLS(HUGE GAME NOW), and the Dream team Beagles...lol

The Giants are a tough matchup and I would not count the Bills out yet either.

    Good luck Jets

LOL, good god, just how far into the game is the defense supposed to hold the offense back before ours decide to get their act together and carry their end of the log? against the absolute worst defense in the league!

when the offense can only account for 7 points against that defense you can't go blaming the defense for that!

this team goes as far as the defense can carry it, because the offense certainly isn't going to be carrying this team, thats for damn sure!
