If Ellis and DeVito weren't injured and MTV wasn't on the practice squad, you'd have a point. As it is, you need around 5-6 players in a proper D-line rotation. We have Pouha, Wilkerson, Dixon, Pitoitua and MTV that are healthy. Pitoitua and Dixon were on the injury report last week. Granted, we'll probably play more DB's against the Pats this week, but it's not like we have too much depth on the D-line.
Don't forget our cap number this year also effects next years. So the 9 mil we might have now is added too the cap next season. I understand Albert would come at about 750k if claimed but that's a number that could help sign a rookie or cap off a big deal for a guy who would play very little.
I'd be very against claiming him off waivers. He simply costs too much. It's only if he clears waivers and we can sign him for the vet minimum and have the option of cutting him after 1 week if necessary.
I love how much Pats fans were gloating before the season about getting OchoStinko and Fat Albert, and to a lesser degree taking Shaun Ellis from the Jets.. and how much better they got while the Jets got worse, and yada yada yada.
Nobody is going to claim him on waivers, so it would only be as a free agent with the option to cut him if .. and that's a huuuge IF.. the Jets were to give him a look and bring him in.
Hell No.... Like one of the beat writers said, Rex already got rid of one Cancer in Mason, why the hell would we bring in another.
"JennyVrentas Jenny Vrentas Jets have no interest in acquiring DT Albert Haynesworth after his release from the Pats, source says. #nyj " Thank God
JennyVrentas: Jets have no interest in acquiring DT Albert Haynesworth after his release from the Pats, source says.
2 points why this may be the dumbest post of the month. 1) Haynesworth has 3 tackles in 8 games. 2) We would be paying for Belichicks mistake for the rest of the year instead of the Pasts. As a vested veteran Haynesworth can file for the reset of his salary after being cut. The Pasts would have to pay out unless another team were to sign him. Not only does it cost Kraft cash, but it counts against the salary cap. The Jets must not sign Haynesworth. This thread should be soxxxxxx'ed.
Sorry bro but Albert is SHOT. Watch some game film on him, he gets NO penetration, NO push, and looks Weak. If it were last year I would say take a shot on him, because even though he was a POS in Washington he still showed he could be Dominant when he wanted to play. I dont think he would be a problem in our locker-room, but I just think he is a waste of a roster spot. Not only would we lose out on a guy like Josh Baker (who played well last week in the H-back role) getting valuable reps, but we would also hinder the development of Kendrick Ellis. Our D-Line has shown that we can perform well even when we are missing a few key guys. IMO I dont think the Jets even take a look at him, and if they end up signing him it will only be to make him a captain this sunday against the pats lol.
1. Haynesworth failed in the land of redemption. Haynesworth hates the 3-4. 2. His work ethic and lack of contribution tell me he prolly doesnt know shit other than rushing as a 3 technique under tackle. 3. The young guys (Dixon, Pitouitua) have been amazing in sub duty and Ropati is someone a good amount of fans (including myself) have been pining for him to get playing time hes getting it and doing well. Dixon has been a great surprise this year I'll put it this way, his only fit is probably in Tampa Bay. and he prolly wont go there simply due to their "commitment" (more like an excuse not to spend money) to a youth movement will blow all that up. even if theyre desperate at DT in the 4-3. The only place hed be a good fit IMO is Philly. With Jim Washburn his former DL coach at TEN and their weakness in run d. I personally think hes a fucking bum. I was a little worried when the Pats got him simply because if he plays to his potential hes disruptive. If Belicheck couldnt help him redeem himself I think its the player, not TEN, not WAS, and certainly not NE.
Nobody's going to claim him off waivers, which means he's likely going to go somewhere for the vet min...and I still don't want him. He's a malcontent who hates the 3-4. Even though we run a hybrid a lot of the time, just mention 3-4 and he's turned off. He'll end up in Tampa or Philly.
NO. 1) There's no Pats insight gained from picking this guy up. Rex & Co. have faced off against the Pats for years & in the playoffs. Haynesworth was only there for half a season. 2) Haynesworth was an incredible defensive player only when a new contract was on the line. Ever since then he's been dogging it. 3) On the Jets D scheme, DL don't pick up a lot of sacks. If there's any chance Haynesworth will actually play hard or serious, it has to be in a defensive scheme where he can rack up big stats. He's not going to plug away so other guys can get the stats. 4) Fuck Haynesworth. You're looking at a guy had HOF talent and never came close to reaching his potential (except when contract was on the line) by share laziness & not giving a damn. He's the kind of player that pisses me off the most.
