I would say Welker's best attribute is how fast he gets out of his breaks. It's just a certain type of quickness. his top end speed is not that fast compared to a lot of WRs.

Pat Kirwan brought up a great point about some guys in the league are just good because they have 1 move or are really good at one particular thing despite not being the biggest or most athletic. he used Wayne Chrebet as a comparison (while noting that Welker is a more gifted athlete overall but the situation is similar), saying that he led the league in 3rd down receptions for years because he could get separation from anybody despite not being the fastest or biggest guy.

i disagree. 90% of his improvement came from his hardwork, not osmosis(as stated previously.)

Was very impressed with him yesterday. Made timely tackles and even when he wasn't in a position to make a play on the ball, he hit the receiver and made sure no extra damage was done. He was all over the field. Happy to see him doing what we all thought he would when he was drafted.

Revis definitely helped Wilson's improvement but you need talent to do what Wilson's doing. I can spend a decade with Revis learning how to play corner but I'd never be able to take a professional field. I imagine he taught him the nuances of playing corner:

When to jump a route, WR/QB tendencies, getting physical in coverage without drawing flags, properly jamming at the line.. things like that. The game needed to slow down for KW and it looks like he's playing at the same speed as everyone else. Next year he may be scary good, if he isn't already.

Yeah I don't get this idea that Kyle didn't work hard on his own.

    Go figure

I have a feeling Wilson will be seeing a lot of work against Gronk this week. I would be so proud if Wilson is able to lay some big hits on him. The dude has got to be one of the hardest TE's to bring down.

The only kind of help Revis could give Wilson, would be teaching him just the amount of work needed to get to the level Darrelle has....

Given Kyle's track record, I have little doubt he has similar dedication to the sport, absorbed everything Revis had to offer as knowledge, and worked his tail off the entire offseason, to bring his game to the level we're witnessing now.

When we win our championship, I have little doubt Kyle Wilson is going to be one of the most important pieces, to said championship team........kid is a gamer, and what we're seeing now, is just the beginning.

Against the Pats this would be IMO the best way to cover the revivers and TE. Revis on Welker (our best vs their best), Cro on Branch (Branch might get some grabs but he is their best deep threat now the jets must remove that!), Wilson on Harnandez (I really like this match up, Lets Wilson stay on the inside where he's been great and he can bump and run with him as their size match up is more similar then gronk. welker would beat wilson, he's just to good) and for gronk something special! Jam him on EVERY play with a LB and then have bracket coverage with Smith or Lennard, beat his ass up on every play and send him back to NE broken!. As far as Chad they can have Pouha cover him because he and brady are absolute shit this year lol. If they play this way I think they can really hurt the pats passing game.

One thing I have noticed this year is the swagger and smash mouth football from Kyle Wilson.

A good thing to have that confidence.

    He's always played like that.

He did it in college and when he did make an impact last year.
