Nevermind that then, didn't know you were landing in NYC. I would stay in Manhattan somewhere (not midtown) and just take the train from Penn to Secaucus to the Meadowlands. Doesn't matter where you camp really, it's easy to get around via subway/path/NJtransit/bus. If you're more adventurous and want to save some cash check out the south-side of Queens or the north-western bay of Brooklyn.
No. That's a terrible idea. Koz is pretty good with that location. Bayside. I've partied there plenty of times and the trains and subways are near, too. Forest Hills and Kew Gardens in Queens are very nice, too. Good for mass transit as well.
Sounds good enough for me. We're riding in with Koz on Sunday, so distance to the stadium isn't really an issue.
I figured, but I know jack shit about Queens, and MB was a little uneasy. I didn't live in NY for long and it was in Manhattan. Given that my first place in LA had crack dealers across the street, I didn't care much about location, but it's easier to at least stay somewhere with stuff around.
Yes, from the area where I'll be you guys are fine if you're in Bayside, no problem. Did I mention that there's tons of ass and great Italian food/steak in Bayside?
That's not an exhaustive list- just what Google first came up with. I would say check hotels.com and see if they give you anything more. Something like a Mariott Courtyard would be ideal. For you MB, you can spit from the airport and it will land in Bayside. Point of reference, you're about 10 minutes away from CitiField. For Iggy, it's a quick 12-15 minute taxi ride north.
We went with the Anchor Inn. The Adria didn't have any non-smoking rooms available. Thanks for stepping up with some suggestions, KOZ. :up:
Wow...2 or 3 blocks within Bell Blvd. Great location....no shit. Bell Blvd. has about 10-15 good pubs/bars and PLENTY of places to eat. I'm talking all types of food, almost everything. MBG...you're going to be in heaven, food wise. The bars right by the train station are awesome, too. You won't be bored. Waaaay better than Elmhurst. Koz...you've done good.
By the way, I pulled up the map and noticed that you're a quick walk from Bell Blvd, the main drag. If you're going to be somewhat "open" with the wallet and treat yourself to a nice dinner one night, Uncle Jacks steakhouse is regarded as one of the best in NY. Dude, your move from Elmhurst to Bayside is like sleeping with a fat girl, and then banging her hot friend- no comparison.
Koz ain't kidding though, that place costs boo-coo dollars. There are plenty of alternatives, that if I had more time, I'd list them, that are a fraction of the price. You cannot go wrong in Bayside, thinking about it, probably the best you could have done Queens-wise regarding the whole nine yards (drinking, eating, an actual nightlife, proximitiy to mass transit....etc.
