Ok so while this line of thinking is going to come off completely absurd, ive been thinking would the Jets actually be better off getting the #6 seed instead of winning our division. The fact is if we won the division wed have virtually NO chance whatsoever of getting a bye week. Houston has 2 wins on us, and the winner of Ravens/Steelers tonight will have either 3 or 2.5 wins on us. That combined with the fact that Houston may very well have the easiest schedule on the face of the planet from here on out as well. So now assuming we got the #3 seed we would end up hosting either the Pats or loser of Steelers/Ravens in wildcard weekend , then would end up @ Steelers/Ravens in the 2nd round, then in the afccg would either be @ houston or hosting the #4/5/6 team assuming theyre around. Whereas on the flip side if we got the #6 seed we would have 3 road games, albeit significantly easier matchups. Wildcard weekend would be @ AFC west team, then @ houston, then AFCCG could be pretty much anywhere. Either way unless Houston just completely shits the bed vs the massive amounts of garbage teams they have remaining on their schedule, it seems pretty apparent that the #6 seed looks a helluva lot more desirable to me than the 3. Of course its barely half way through the season so a million things could happen (hell the bengals could win the afc north), but I think its pretty obvious that things are more likely to work out as above than not
Way too early for this shit man. We need to win next Sunday before we can start talking about this. And FTR I'd rather have the home games.
Give me a home playoff game and an AFC East title. Period. If we win enough to take the AFC East, then there are 2 division winners fighting for 3 spots, since I think the AFCW winner will have a mediocre record. Win the games, try to get a bye. Way, way, way too early to be talking about this.
The Texans are 6-3, the Jets are 5-3. How do they have two wins on us? The Texans haven't had their bye week yet.
Guarantee that we win both times in the AFC title game if at home. Winning in Indy and Pitt are tough
I understand a home game > road game but youre talking Jets @ SD/KC/OAK vs Pats/Steelers/Ravens @ Jets then after that pretty much all your games are going to be on the road anyway
Houston doesn't have 2 games over us....both the Jets and Houston have three losses. That's the column you need to be looking at, not wins as Houston hasn't had their bye yet.
Yeah realized that, eitherway Houston still by far has the biggest joke of a schedule from here on out. They have a legitimate shot at winning out, and they're dominating teams right now WITHOUT A.J. I mean I guess its possible that they fall on their face, but wed have to finish out on obscene winning streak to beat out their record. Unless they just completely meltdown, or foster gets hurt
???? Did you even look at our schedule. Of the remaining games we have only 2 teams are legit out of the playoffs, 3 if you include Washington who is quickly becoming a complete joke. And one of them is us going from playing NE on sunday night and traveling to Denver and playing them on incredibly short rest on thursday. As great as I think this team is, Id be pretty shocked if we finished the season 10-1 of our last 11 games
Just saw the early line: Pick em' and o/u 48. If we win Sunday night (which I think we can) then the division is in ours for the taking.
Fuck that, I want the division crown. And it's way too early to start projecting seeds. Houston is half a game ahead of us and tied in the loss column. We'll see what happens.
