48 hours with no power. Should be back tomorrow night. Missing the usc-Stanford game really sucked. Did make it to the Bar to see the glorious loss by the pats so the weekend didn't totally suck.
Not being able to watch the games seucked most. By the way I got power back 4 pm today? How about you
Made it home after power was out..just got power back about an hour ago. Incredible storm for this time of year. Early snow storms are GENERALLY not a good thing for future forecasts for the winter. They are usually followed by horrible winters. OR...OR...we could look back on this and say wow..that was the only storm of the winter and it came in October. Lets hope so..but doubt it. Glad everyone seems to be closing in on back to normal.
Remember like 5 years ago when it was something like 70 degrees in December? What ever happened to that?
doubtful this storm is the only one jaywayne. I was telling my friends at work this is going to be a bad winter before I heard about this last storm. all the rain we are getting translates to snow in the winter.
I don't know...the last 2 winters have been moist and not so cold. For some reason, I can see not much snow, and a whole lot of cold. I'm talking 10-14 days of sub 25 degree weather. Maybe a couple of times. Maybe 2 or 3 storms, tops.
I hear you gq. The thing is patterns and you are totally correct. This pattern has been with us for almost two years now. Usually, a crazy storm adjusts the pattern to something different but we have had hurricanes come north, earthquakes, snow storm in October, blizzards and flooding rains. Nothing is changing the pattern. I think you are correct. What we have also learned over the decades is that with weather, when everything is set up for what looks to be a shitty winter, things dont always go as planned. I still side with your thinking though.
The second paragraph makes a lot of sense because will all the snow we received last year, it wasnt really a cold winter. Snow Storms were followed by warmer temps and a lot of melting. I can remember winters where there were practically no storms yet very cold temps. Those winters are when the jet stream dives south and gives DC and areas south of the metro area above average storms. That could be in the cards. Its just that there is no let up to the amount of precipitation in this area. Its unheard of for such a long period of time. The long term forecast for the USA is much colder than normal temps and a great amount of storms for the Midwest. Chicago area is supposed to be the winner for major Snow Storms this year. Our area is below normal temps and above normal precip. Usually those two combine for a decent amount of storms. We shall see.
That, and I wanted to catch Putz/Queerlers game, but NFLN was kind enough to show the replay after I got back on the grid last night.
Ok..the future. Let it never be said that I only deliver doom and gloom. How about record setting warmth for the Mid Atlantic and Northeast? Yep...count on it for the beginning of next week. 70's and 80's up and down the coast. No precip in site too.
Our power went out for a few seconds last night (still in Bali). I took the opportunity to cheat at cards. 80 something degrees again here.
I love that!! Saturday I thought my days of running outdoors slush-free and without the snot freezing in my nose were over.
lol..cman..great to hear from you. Interesting tidbit. Collen...ty for the snot running down your nose...nice visual. Downgraded the high temps a bit for this warmup Monday Tuesday but still upper 60's for metro area upper 70's for Virginia, Maryland etc.
It figures... we get a heat wave right when I am about to head for Florida for over a week. Why can't we get a foot of snow so I can feel like I dodged some winter!!?
