this is pretty ignorant. Everyday fans make fun of Rex's weight, or Sparano's gay fist pumping or Tom Cable's domestic beatings or Belichick's cheating. If Namath wants to be taken seriously, he should be holding himself to a higher standard. The fat jokes are juvenile. That stunt just proves how useless Namath truly is in the media.
They're really taking this out of context, though. During the interview Namath was laughing and it was pretty clear that it was just an innocent joke and he wasn't trying to be mean. Looks a little worse when you just transcribe it I guess. Either way they played the audio of Namath for Rex and he seemed pretty lighthearted about it. This is just a story cause there is nothing else to print on a bye week.
thats fine but since Namath has been running his mouth about the organization and mostly Rex I still stand by my statement I think he tested the waters and realized Rex has more pull than he thought. prolly cause of all the attention gravity has to give him. see what i did there har de har har. yeah Namath needs to stick it up his ass. and I still love the guy but if he thinks his opinion is held in regards as high as his waistband hes wrong.
Is this another one of those, "I'm older than you, so I can can say whatever the fuck I want" posts? Seems that way. Sorry, I'm only 34, and only rooted for this team since '82. You don't have to agree with me, but jesus, "I named my username after Wahoo MacDaniel, so everyone else is some noob." Yeah, great argument you have there. And for everyone who missed Puck's obvious fucking sarcasm, obvious sarcasm was sarcasm I'm seriously starting to believe the whole he can do whatever he wants bullshit. Hell, all the Giants fans defend Taylor no matter what he does, so fuck it, right?
And..this is all according to Ian Begley, not Dick Cimini.... But, according to a joking Ryan, "nothing has hurt more" than when Broadway Joe cracked on Rex's weight. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...rex?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
itd prolly be alot more funny but Joe is probably battling Gout now so hes got his own foot issues to focus on
I agree that he should lay off bashing the organization. Not sure if he's said anything recently - maybe he has backed off a little. I listened to that interview the other day though and the comment was so benign that it didn't even register with me at all. Was kinda surprised that anyone bothered to write about it.
dunno if your on board and being sarcastic or what? just me making a Namath drinking joke/rex foot fetish tie in joke
These, "I'm older than you..." posts are as stupid as these "I have more posts than you..." posts. Can we, as a board, just stop with these bullshit reasons for your argument?? I got fucking news for some of you...just because you've rooted for this team longer than someone else (probably due to age) or just because you joined a message board earlier than someone else, DOES NOT MAKE THAT A BASIS FOR YOUR STUPID FUCKING ARGUMENT. Sorry, I went all caps here. I'm usually pretty level headed, but I can't take this bullshit anymore. Just because Joe Namath won a Super Bowl, which (of course) I will always respect, does not mean JETS fans are not allowed to throw THEIR OPINION out there. This is a message board not the fucking NY Times. Sorry for the rant....this is not really aimed at one person, just something I've noticed recently.
Its not about stating fact, its about having respect for the coach of the team (that he is a "legend" of) that has done more for the franchise in two years since Namath and Weeb were here forty years ago.
I wonder how many OJ apologists there would be in Buffalo Bills land if the Bills had won a Super Bowl in his great career there? Yeah....just gonna put that out there.
Jesus Christ people we're getting upset over two people joking around? I couldn't even begin to think how many people call Rex fat everyday, hell his wife probably calls him fat everyday, we're men people lets not forget that and not act like a bunch of women
