Bills ALWAYS play us tough, no matter what their record is so I go into this game hoping for a win but w/the jets coming off a bye (jets suck after a bye) & w/the pats game a week later I can see this team overlooking the Bills & underperforming like they have all season... hope not but I wouldn't be surprised.
There's no way the Jets are looking past the Bills in this game. If they lose it they're pretty close to playing a post-season elimination game. Jet's 4-4 and 1-2 in the division versus Bills 5-3 (assuming they lose this week) and 2-0 in the division is suddenly a long hard uphill grind to make the playoffs. Especially with the Patriots coming up next.
There is no way in hell that the Jets overlook the bills. Even though the Jets crushed the bills twice last year. This team will be ready to play for sure. They know that RW is a hard place to play if the crowd gets into the game.
If you think the Jets are going to underestimate a 4-2 team ahead of them in the division that beat New England you're out of your mind.
the term "overlooking" an opponent is used when a winning team plays a bad team and thus don't take them seriously, and instead are more focused about a bigger game the following week. the reason why that doesn't apply here is because the Bills are a good team and ahead of the Jets in the standings, making it the important game and the Pats game irrelevant. if you don't grasp these terms don't use them.
The term "overlooking" means not focusing on the present & instead paying more attention to something else than what's in front of you... IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH a teams record.
Not sure how you can cling to your point after everyone shot you down so thoroughly. The Bills game is an important one for us. They're not going to overlook the Bills. Nobody overlooks a good team with a winning record.
and it is only used as an excuse when the current game doesn't appear important and thus you overlook it. and a game would only appear unimportant if it is against a team that doesn't appear a threat. the Bills are both a threat and the game is hugely important. in the history of the NFL no team has ever overlooked a divisional game against a team ahead of them in the standings. it is sheer stupidity to even think that.
I'm actually really excited about the next two weeks. I can't remember another season when the Jets were both a decent team and in a must-win situation in back to back weeks this early on. If the Jets handle the Bills they'll be tied at 5-3 with the Jets momentarily on top due to head to head. Then the following week the Jets will have to beat the Pats or see the Bills lose at Dallas, both of which are very possible, to maintain position. Then the Jets get a trap game against the Broncos and Tim Tebow while the Bills get the same against the Fins. Then back for a head-to-head to probably figure out who makes the playoffs. What a whirl. And of course the Pats have the Giants, @ Jets, trap vs the Chiefs and Todd Haley and then @ the Eagles so their path is not so easy either and they could pretty easily be in second place as of 11/27. This is going to be a lot of fun if the Jets can hold their end up.
it's an OPINION, you have yours & I have mine, why would I change my opinion because others disagree with it, only a member of the sheeple society (aka the unwashed horde @ Wall St.) would do that...again, I hope the Jets win but we'll find out on Sunday.
Phil Simms also seems to stick up for Sanchez. Great article by Dilfer. Can't disagree with his assessment.
One of the more interesting things about Dilfer's article I didn't see anyone else comment on (so if you did, I apologize) is his explanation for why the Jets do not merely leave Revis on the other team's best receiver all game. Their more complex approach with him, while generally giving the impression of putting their best receiver on Revis Island, may well mean that receiver is not completely shut down, depending on the week and the opponent and how hard they try to force it in there anyway. But it pays greater dividends by adding to the complexity of what the opposing Qb sees, and sometimes does NOT see, such as when Revis leaves his man and ends up being in the right place to make an INT. Great insight from Dilfer.
That's what makes our defensive schemes awesome, and part of the reason why we confused the hell out of Brady in the playoffs last year.
It absolutely should be an awesome week of lead up to the Pats game if we beat the bills, regardless of the Pats vs. Giants outcome. But can you imagine if the Gints beat the Pats and we beat the bills? A bloodbath game for the outright division lead on SNF? Hell we could only be so lucky.
I agree, but of course the Pats played the Jets differently last time out. They ran it more, and with effect. Dilfer alluded to that as well.
