This. Making Cromartie a Safety is about the worst idea I've ever heard.

But we need quality depth on the OLine more.

I've seen him play a lot and I like him. I would start him over Smith for sure.

Who was his D coordinator? Did they get a new one this year or change the D?

I ask because it seems like a long way to fall in a short time for a guy who looked real good pretty recently.

How about trading Maybin at the end of this year for a safety? Or at least a draft pick, and maybe get someone in the draft?

I agree with the general thrust of your post, but you give Eric Smith too much credit. It's not that he can be a liability in coverage; he is a liability. He can't cover anyone in the open field, that's a huge problem in a defense that blitzes frequently.

It wouldn't take a ton of money to upgrade on Smith. Just find a more athletic player.

    Harris isn't that guy, though.

i have no idea how cro would do at safety but i think he would handle TE's just fine, especially when they are lined up off tackle where someone else would be jamming them

cro has the same issues that sherry rhodes had and sherry was a pretty damn good safety here

also, im i the only one that saw him come up and tackle tolbert in the open field on sunday??? i believe tolbert left with an injury after the tackle

cro's tackling technique is terrible but he doesnt hesitate to stick his nose in there

Guys available at this point in the season are either injured or lousy. Fact.

However, I'd love for the Jets to cut a poor player to replace him with an even worse one. :metal:

Na, obviously somethings wrong with him that he got cut. Whether it be effort or injury.
