Here or NFL forum? Mods decide... Dolphins play Jets, & Bills twice + Patriots once --> Division games are always hard to predict but the three teams look quite superior as of now. Broncos & Chiefs --> Winnable games. Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, Raiders, Eagles --> Better teams. Luck, Barkley and Jones are three pretty damn good QB prospects and I'm pretty sure one of them will be in our division next year. Possibly with a HC that knows how to do his job and is attracted by the opportunity to coach one of these guys...
A little premature, Mambo. We shouldn't worry about where Andrew Luck goes. While he is definitely the best quarterback prospect since Carson Palmer, no prospect is a sure thing. I think he'll be a great player in the NFL, but we won't know until it's all said and done. FTR, I think the Colts will take him.
Could be a perfect situation...have him learn from Peyton for 3 years and then unleash him on the league. Didn't hurt Rodgers.
Why do you say that? I mean from a business standpoint I can see why if they end up with Luck but I don't think they would get rid of Peyton.
If the Colts get Luck, it's not out of the question they get rid of Peyton. While I don't see them doing that, it would be cruel as hell to Peyton, it would save them a ton of money if I remember his contract correctly. And as this season shows, the team has a lot of holes in it. The Patriots won 11 games when Brady went out. They did have a competent QB, but they also had a very good supporting cast. The Colts suck. If the Colts save money from Manning's deal for Luck, with the new rookie cap, they could conceivably cut bait with Manning, roll with Luck, and have a ton of cap room to work with.
If the Colts get Andrew Luck and let Manning go, he'll end up in Dallas. That's the only other franchise I can see him playing for: big market team with lots of weapons.
I think it would never happen, but it's interesting to think about it. I think there's too much loyalty to Manning to do that, but who really knows. I think the options are the Colts take Luck to groom him, or they trade Luck for a boatload of talent and picks. It probably makes more sense for Indy if they like any of the other QB prospects to trade Luck down, get a ton back, and still end up with Jones or Barkley or whoever they like.
I'm not sure what happens after that but you know Brett Favre calling Peyton for a "friendly chat" is what would start it.
Manning in Dallas would be a scary thought. WOuld they have the money to sign him though? In terms of cap space of course...
Manning should retire. He won't, of course, but he should. I've seen firsthand how even minor neck injuries in the NFL can crop up and turn into major disabilities later in life. He's had, what, 3 surgeries on his neck in the past year? Continuing to play doesn't simply put him at risk of disability later in life, it puts him at a risk of permanent disability in a pursuant season.
I see the phins go 3- and they need a qb, but the colts are pretty unpredictable it will be a close one between the 2
