Nelson is also 6'5. Him, and Plax in the redzone could be interesting.

#Jets worked out a bunch of players today, including OLB Ricky Sapp, WR Dexter Jackson and ex-Bills TE Shawn Nelson: source.

All joking aside, I was interested in seeing what he could do with the Jets when he was coming out of college. Probably less now given his injury but still intriguing.

EDIT: NVM. The play I was thinking of was against Eric Norwood.

He damn well better be, guy never EVER played in an nfl game, its quite shocking the Eagles cut him.

Went on IR in his rookie training camp last year, and they cut him this august before the season started.

Makes me think his knee is hopeless, but who knows. Esp how desperate they are on defense

Hows Sapp's Knee. If it is healthy, maybe we have something here. Also love the Move with Nelson. He has potential. YOung talent that the Jets could develop.

I like the Shawn Nelson signing as we're still searching for a compliment to Dustin Keller.

I also like the Ricky Sapp signing who I wanted us to sign after he went undrafted.

Both are low-cost/upside moves that could prove beneficial down the road.

Shit, I was thinking of Antonio Coleman. I did like Sapp going into the draft, though.

    N.Y. JETS
    Tryout:
    WR Andy Brewer, Northwestern
    WR DaMarcus Ganaway, Kentucky Wesleyan
    WR Dexter Jackson, Appalachian State
    WR Jamarko Simmons, Western Michigan
    TE Shawn Nelson, Southern Mississippi
    DE Ricky Sapp, Clemson

While the Jets are on their bye week, they brought in six players for tryouts yesterday, including four receivers. The team has not announced any signings yet, but has openings after waiving reserve center Colin Baxter from the 53-man roster and cut DL/OL Matt Kroul from the practice squad.

    Here's the list of players:

WR Andy Brewer, undrafted out of Northwestern in 2010 and most recently played for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks.

WR/KR DaMarcus Ganaway, undrafted out of Kentucky-Wesleyan in 2010.

WR Dexter Jackson, a former second-round pick by Tampa Bay out of Appalachian State. He most recently played for the UFL's Virginia Destroyers, who won the league's championship under coach Marty Schottenheimer.

WR Jamarko Simmons, undrafted out of Western Michigan in 2009 and also on the Destroyers' roster this year.

DE Ricky Sapp, a 2010 fifth-round pick who was cut by the Eagles in August. Sapp wrote on his Twitter account last night that he had signed with the Jets, but a team spokesman said that is not accurate.

TE Shawn Nelson, who played two seasons for the Bills before being released in September.

How about this: I've been told C Colin Baxter opted to return to Chargers & sign w/their practice squad over Jets PS after clearing waivers

    TheJetsStream Manish Mehta
#Jets will also be bringing back OL Matt Kroul to their practice squad in the coming day(s), per source

Offensive lineman Dennis Landolt will be re-signing with Jets practice squad next week, per source

So Jets will have 1 spot open on the PS for Sapp or whomever
